1  Morticia Addams with a twist in Halloween Costumes by sammywoo88 on: November 09, 2011 02:10:24 PM
So this year I chose a very traditional character for my costume. The outfit itself was pretty simple, long black hair and a slinky black dress (that I HAND STITCHED, let me just repeat that, I hand stitched all that damn lycra. Lycra was invented by Satan).

Just a few pictures.

Me and my best friend, I painted his face in like 10 minutes, it's the worst skull face I've ever done...

My other two besties and my Gomez. I wish you could see his cravat and his pocket square, I made those as well.

You can see my real hair in this one, but I was about seventy eleven drinks in and everything was starting to fall apart.

What's the twist you ask? (as though you can't tell)

I'm a dude.

Happy Halloween Cheesy

Hello again Popetteers! It's been far too long since I posted here. I'm really impressed with all the new poppets I've seen (took ages to catch up, you guys talk a LOT!) And congrats to all you new mamma's. Those baby pics actually spark paternal feelings in me hehe.

Well, after discovering that it was one of my friends birthday parties this weekend, I realised I didn't have a gift for her. I'd made her a pink poppet last year (she loves pink, like really loves it)

After much swearing and some fairly major blood loss - jointing needles are sharp, be careful - I present Pink Poppet V.2:

Sorry about the crappy picture, it was really late when I finished and my house doesn't get the best lighting anyway. She's also not as lopsided as she looks, I think that's the angle plus my awesome photo skillz.

It's great to be back in the poppet fold guys, missed you all!

I've finally had chance to upload a pic of my pink poppet
Here she is in all her pinkness:

She's gone to live with my friend Nat. This is the first poppet I've done that sticks completely to the original pattern. Apparently, I suck at sculpting fingers and toes... Ah well, Nat liked her =]

4  I've bought a BJD!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions by sammywoo88 on: February 22, 2008 12:25:50 PM
I've just bought my first ball jointed doll and I'm nearly peeing with excitement. I can't wait for him to get here, and I just know it's going to take aaaaaages! But I'm still unnecessarily excited.
His name is Cheng, and he is beautiful. And cheap, well cheap compared to the usual cost of these things. Oooo I can't wait. I should really post pics too shouldn't I?
Here you go:

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! I just had to share this!
*is excited*

What about cutting them off of the eyelash yarn? They're already the right size, and you get a TON for a few dollars.

I've done this before with some success, it's hard to get a nice looking curly eyelash, but it give a good effect
Pink had eyelash yarn eyelashes

Hope this helps

7  My giant poppet! Loadsa pics in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by sammywoo88 on: January 07, 2008 02:04:50 PM
So finally, my extra large poppet!
She doesn't have a name yet, mainly cos she hasn't told me, I do know she likes ballet and Tim Burton films. I enlarged the pattern by 150% on this one so she's huge!
Enough of the talk, on to the pictures
Here she is in all her glory. For some reason, the flash on my camera makes her eyes look really pale and evil but they're actually a sky blue colour

Stood next to regular sized poppet, Eric

Close up shot

With her preeetty bow

That's it. I love this one, I can't stop looking at her, she came out so well!

It's kinda hard to tell, but she has a long ribbon around her neck that's kinda see-through black mesh with silver studs on it. Her hair has like silver glitter in it

**EDIT** The Poppet now has a name. She is Lola Satin. Lola is actually a nom du plume. She is a romance writer. Her real name is Aileen (cos one leg is a little longer than the other)

Hey all!
Loving the new poppets. I'm sooooo jealous of the centaur, haven't even started mine yet... Excellent job so far

I'm having a bit of a problem with my most recent poppet. I can't decide which colour to use for her hair. I've posted a pic of my choices, and the fabric it's on is the stuff I'm making her out of (which is awful by the way, no stretch and really stiff... stupid fabric)
The green one is kinda my favourite, its like a mix of greens with silvery glittery bits in it. The purple is like a mix of purples, greens and yellows. I can't make my mind up, I think green, but I'm not sure. What do you all think?

Hey all, as promised I've just had a quick go at a centaur poppet.
Now, I've only done the body, it's super ugly and uneven and lumpy and not at all like it's supposed to be but it's given me a lot of insight into how to make a proper one.
Anyway, enough talk, on to the pictures (they're really poor quality cell phone pics, forgive me)
From the the front:

So you can see its wonky and weird but I just winged it and I'm tired, shush
Side view:

So it looks like a hunch back poppet with a really long butt, or strange tumor...

From this though I think I can figure out how to make it look like an actual horse body. I need to do some studying and pattern scribbling but I'll keep you updated!

Keep up the good work all

10  Two and a half Poppets [pic silly] in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by sammywoo88 on: December 20, 2007 08:34:55 AM
Ok, so I've finally uploaded the pictures of my completed poppets. There are quite a few but here we go
First we have the lovely Pandora, made for my friend Amelia, I decided they needed to have the same hair and fashion sense
Here she is headless and held together with pins

Eric meeting his half completed sister

Yay, completed. Sorry about the blurred picture and the fact you can see right up her slightly too short dress

Saying bye to Eric the night before she left for her new home

Onto the next one =] Proper pics of Eric (he's a poser, be warned)
Just hanging out

Little cutie-pie

The "love me" shot

And finally, the half finished Emma. This one is based on my best friend, I thought it would be funny to copy her as much as possible in poppet form
Here she is (The real Emma has HUGE boobs, so her poppet needed them too)

I even gave her the same tattoo!

That's it!! Waaay too many pictures I know but I'm excited by them

Thanks for looking, comments welcome!
