11  Ice cream clowns - great birthday party treat in Party Planning by bcrafty on: August 11, 2010 07:53:59 AM
You can make these clowns ahead of time and keep them in the freezer.  When it's time to serve they are all ready and quick to pass out to party guests. I made these for my children when they were small and they will never forget them. We still make them once in a while just for fun!  All it takes is ice cream, a cone, a cookie and some frosting!

If you aren't having a birthday party just make as a special treat to cool off in the summer.

12  Ornaments ~ Skate, Mittens & Ribbon Candy in Winter Holidays by bcrafty on: July 08, 2010 08:42:19 AM
It's Christmas in July ~ I Love Christmas. If you are already planning your Christmas crafting like I am here are some ideas for homemade ornaments.

The first one is a skate made of felt. I stitched a silver pipe-cleaner into the bottom of the skate as the skate's blade and threaded silver ribbon right through the felt to make the laces. http://www.craftelf.com/Christmas_ornament_Felt_Skate.htm

Next, is a pair of mittens cut from felt then I used the blanket stitch to outline each mitten. Then, draw some holly on the mittens with fabric paint http://www.craftelf.com/Craft_elf_Holiday_Christmas_Mitten_ornament.htm

This is one of my favorites ~ Ribbon Candy! It looks so realistic and holds up great over the years. It's made with ribbon, beads and thread. Very inexpensive and quick to make. Give a set as a gift or attached them to the top of a gift in place of a bow. http://www.craftelf.com/Ribbon_Candy_Ornament.htm

Let me know if you have any favorite Christmas ornaments to make ~ I love crafting ornaments  Smiley

13  Sofa Door Stop in Mother's Day by bcrafty on: May 03, 2010 09:49:32 AM
Our Sofa Doorstop - is made around a brick base. First you cover the brick with batting.  Then customize the sofa by choosing a fabric in your Mom's favorite color and cover the batting with the fabric securing in place with a hot glue gun.  Attach lace around the bottom half of the brick using hot glue gun.  Next make the arms and back of the sofa by stitching a tube, stuffing it with polyester fiberfil and gluing it onto the fabric covered brick. Stitch up a couple of pillows from fabric circles and glue them and a stuffed bunny or bear on and you are done.

You can find a complete tutorial here if you need more help: http://craftelf.com/Craft_elf_sewing_sofa_doorstop.htm

14  Bunny Napkin Rings in Easter by bcrafty on: April 03, 2010 10:08:14 AM
These bunny napkin rings are so quick and simple you can make them at the last minute for your Easter dinner. They are made from constructions paper which is rolled and glued in place. Then you cut out the head from constructions paper draw on a face and glue it onto the tube. A pompom or cotton ball glued on the back for a tail completes the bunny.  Personalize them by writing each guest's name across the feet so everyone knows where they are sitting at the dinner table.

Pattern and complete instructions can be found here; http://craftelf.com/Craft_elf_holiday_Easter_Bunny_napkin_ring.htm

I've never tried it but I would think you could also make them from craft foam and use a hot glue gun to glue them in place.  I'll have to try that.

16  Beaded Easter Egg in Easter by bcrafty on: March 02, 2010 06:39:49 AM
To make this Beaded Easter Egg you basically glue beads to a Styrofoam egg. If you don't like working with hot glue you could also use pins to attach the beads to the Styrofoam. Make a variety of different patterns on the eggs by switching up the beads.

Complete tutorial: http://www.craftelf.com/Easter_Beaded_Egg_craft.htm

Make several eggs and place them in a basket or attach an eye-hook to the top and hang the eggs from a plant or anywhere around the house.

This is a great project for kids or you can make them as stocking toppers!

It would also look cute if you made a few and put them together in a basket - maybe by the fireplace.

This is a great project for kids. It is basically made from a paper plate and scrap fabric. You can change up the fabric and make it for other holidays too.

I think this would be a great gift from a child for Christmas.
