1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / very late post of a halloween costume on: February 09, 2008 09:14:35 AM
yes, I do realise halloween was months ago, but I never got a chance to post!

I really loved my costume this year...probably because it was done from scratch and NO PATTERN
I'm not ashamed to say I'm fairly proud...what do you guys think? (oh, and yes, I consider myself a kid, which is why it's in this thread   Cheesy)

sorry this is the only one I could get of (almost) the whole thing

i only posted this for the top of the costume...ignore my face -and there's another one that's my icon-thing.
anyway, i never knew sewing machines could be so evil...i finished this a day before the halloween party i went to  Tongue
2  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / party for a purpose on: January 29, 2008 09:35:00 AM
I'm not sure if I should put this in the party planning section, but it definitley belongs here too.
On February 17th I was planning on having a party. There's a huge twist, as I'm asking for donations to charity rather than presents (this is my fourteenth birthday) I'd also like most of the party to be focused on charitable activities, just anything to make the world a better place. It'll probably be a 'think globally, act locally.' type thing. I'm planning to show the movie "the story of stuff" (you can view the whole movie at www.storyofstuff.com, i highly recommend you watch it, even if the woman can be a bit annoying)

If anyone has any other ideas for the party they would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / creative math... on: January 22, 2008 07:18:08 AM
I've been given a math assignment, and need a little bit of help.

An overview of the instructions:
-find one math word that begins with each letter of the alphabet [26 letters, 26 words]
-create a piece of art using the words [she says poster or picture...i may be able to bend that a little]

those are pretty much the only rules, but i doubt we have long to finish it.
im basically just asking for ideas right now, as to layout of my picture or any more creative ideas than just a two dimensional poster. [i was thinking i could get her to let me do a sculpture...or even jewlery. but i dont know how to incorporate the 26 words and letters?]
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Toothpaste and Soda?...now that can't be good on: December 13, 2007 11:50:20 AM
Just a couple of simple things I made, so little time before christmas, my, my  Smiley

the tube of toothpaste is short, about 5.5 cm (sorry, I can't figure that out in inches right now) and yeah, it did actually hold toothpaste before.

that one's your typical pop tab bracelet. I like it (and the clasp is a black button w. a rhinestone, sorry I don't have pictures of it)

Thanks for looking!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / some old stuff... on: November 01, 2007 05:01:48 AM
just a couple things i never got around to taking pictures of, until now.

everyone's been posting their button jewlery, i have plenty, this is just a few i thought i'd post.

this is one im more proud of. i wear it a lot. i kind of ran out of head pins so i cut the points off of sewing pins. it worked well and i think it looks pretty good.

shrinky dinks are love. i dont know how well you can see it, the drawing is a heart made of hands. hope this wasn't too img heavy...i really have to go do 'normal' 13 year old stuff now  Roll Eyes
6  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / another request for the wiz on: October 14, 2007 03:35:34 AM
a dorothy dress!
my friend is having a halloween party this saturday
so im in a big hurry, i want to be dorothy (after figuring out, that i dont have enough sewing skill to go as snow white, or enough time.) i want the skirt to be above the knee, but not too short. I mostly need pictures to guide me on this.

can someone tell me if it'll work if i make a circle skirt and then the top as seprate pieces?
thanks guys!  Smiley
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / less is more- 3 (slightly large) images on: August 24, 2007 03:46:34 AM
just some simple things I threw together this summer. I had all these chain marks in my hand at one point  Roll Eyes

I made this one using a key from one of those diary locks. Can you belive they give you three extra keys?! Oh, and I don't use the diary. So I'm planning to use all the keys at one point or another.

someone made a HP watch with this sort of method. I kind of got the idea from them, so if you made that HP watch, thank you  Smiley

this was the hardest one to do (i have earrings to match somewhere. nothing too different) It was hardest because of where the holes are in the beads. If anyone wants to know how I did that just ask...
I talk alot, but I hope you like them!  Cheesy
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / strawberries taste sweeter in felt (big imgs) on: August 24, 2007 03:35:46 AM
I made a felt strawberry for my sister who's only two. She doesn't put anything she isn't supposed to in her mouth, but I made the strawberry big anyway. It was handsewn (felt) and it was prettey bad because i sewed everything on the strawberry AFTER I stuffed it...enough talk, on with the pictures!

and for size refrence (13 y.o. hand  Cheesy)

ps. first project post, comments (very) appreciated!
9  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Never Introduced, yet been here awhile on: July 22, 2007 12:41:48 PM
So, I haven't introduced myself ever. but have been here for awhile. I haven't posted my crafts alot either. but i do comment on lots of peoples crafts. I am the minority on craftster as I am one of those pesky teens (haha kidding) I'm 13 and I actually live in europe though I'm American, and I'm probably moving back to the USA prettey soon. I do lots of beadwork and have just discovered the amazing shrinky dinks. im not very good at sewing and would one day like to crochet. Stop and say hi anytime, comments are always welcome =]
10  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / products..approx cost? on: May 30, 2007 09:56:48 AM
I was thinking of selling my items...my problem is I don't know how much my materials are going to cost. I don't want to go add everything up in the store so if someone could tell me the approx. cost of these items:
buttons (big bag, variety pack)
1mm thread stretchy invisible
jump rings (bags full)
seed beads or similar (glass)
Now, say I made a bracelet out of these...how much would that cost to make? (because, well, you kind of need a profit right?) Wink
please help?!
