41  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: my first spin: Newspaper Yarn on: May 04, 2008 03:34:42 PM
This is what I'm planning for my first spin too!  (or maybe magazines. . . )  I'm thinking weaving rather than crochet or knitting.
42  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: I made a mini "Yip-yip" alien! on: October 22, 2007 11:35:45 PM
I'm jumping on the bandwagon!  I always loved the "yup, yup" monsters, but if it weren't for the twiddle bugs they would have become my favorite when in junior high (in the verrrry late eighties) one of my parents turned around from front seat of the car and said to me and my friends, "You all sound like those monsters from Sesame Street, the really annoying ones.  All they ever do is go:   yup yup yup  mmmmhmmm  mmmhmmm   yup yup yupyupyupyupyup. . . ."

For some reason, I think it was my dad, but I'm having a very hard time imagining him in a situation that would allow him to become so familiar with Sesame Street characters.

A river rock aisle is so romantic!  Check Craigslist or make a request for your rock on Craigslist or Freecycle.  Where I live it is sometimes listed for free.

Re:  Paris Hilton

Sometimes it makes sense to use bad grammar for design purposes.  Apostrophes and additional letters would not have been nearly as visually striking.

48  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: 9 ft long fabric art on: June 04, 2007 05:35:21 PM
This is an amazing find!  I wouldn't have the heart to do anthing but hang it as an art peice, but I wanted to express my sincerest jealousy!
49  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Help me with my CAR art project! on: May 08, 2007 11:19:14 PM
I know you've settled on a topic, but I'd still like to chime in if I may:

I used to live in a town where somebody drove around in a car covered entirely in small plastic toys.  I never met them, but it was the best thing ever!

Also I had a friend with a gore themed car.  His was bloody handprints over black primer.  I'm sure yours will be much classier.

I second the suggestion to have stuff hanging off of  or coming out of it.

I can't wait to see it!
50  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: what are some 'manly' things i can make with 1 yard of this fabric? on: May 06, 2007 02:37:04 PM
I second the Hawaiian or camp-style shirt.  I think your fabric would look awesome as a back piece on an otherwise black shirt with maybe some of your fabric as accents on the front.  I think it would show off your fabric more than an item made entirely of the same material.
