11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Pantone Swatch Book Recon-ed into ornaments and tree topper on: December 16, 2010 06:52:37 AM
Nice job! I love the light covers. I totally get the super nova thing. We bought a tree last year that looked fine in the store but when we got it home we barely turned it on because you couldn't look at it. This year I ended up stripping the lights off of it.
12  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Disgusting Toilet cake (You've been warned) may not be suitable for work on: November 19, 2010 06:53:24 AM
Thanks for your support of my oddness. I was a little worried!
For those of you who want to know, the poo is marshmallow fondant and the pee is tinted piping gel. So all is edible, and my friend DID eat it. His wife got pictures but I couldn't watch. Maybe I'll get a copy and post it but I don't know, it yacks me out just thinking about it.

14  COOKING / Dessert / Rainbow Rainbow cupcakes on: November 18, 2010 02:30:17 PM
I love to make rainbow cakes so when my daughter asked for a rainbow birthday I was all over it. I love to look at them.

The cake is white cake colored in rainbow colors. The rainbows are made from melting chocolate and the "clouds" are just buttercream.

A friend of mine wanted a poo cake for his birthday. I said I probably couldn't stomach making it but that I would make a toilet. Well, I think it turned out pretty good. For a poo in a toilet cake....

Really cool. And a nice sentiment too.

I love it! I can't believe I haven't seen more of this idea out there.
18  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Chick Chik Chik Chicken! on: November 03, 2010 06:16:30 PM
I saw a version of this costume on the Martha Stewart website last year and thought it was cute but already had a costume made for my daughter. So I made it this year!
I sewed a white body suit and attatched feather boas all over it. Feathers have been everywhere in my house for weeks now! I wanted to make the costume as warm as possible (seeing as we got snow a few days before Halloween, yuck) I then sewed a hat with earflaps and attached more feathers and a stuffed felt comb. I bought the tights and made the feet from two dish gloves with shoes inside. I made the beak from cardboard covered in felt so it was comfy and warm. She loved running around the house shouting, "Bok Bok Bok!"
