11  Blah to Black and white (lots of pictures) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Licer on: April 08, 2010 03:31:05 PM
We recently moved into a great house that in two years will be 100. So needless to say it has lots of pros and lots of things that need fixing up. Our bedroom was all wallpaper and wood board so I painted up the wood and peeled off the paper. There was 7 layers of ancient paper and 3 borders!
I was going to use one of those wall sticker things for a head board but when I went to order it they were unavailable! So I painted it on instead.
I cut up a dictionary and used wallpaper adhesive to paper one wall. I know some people are probably cringing but we like it!
I am starting to do some arylic paintings and have a few hanging on one wall with plans for more. I still haven't done anything with the built in cabinets yet but I am thinking that just white might be best. Any ideas?

13  A Royal Birthday in Dessert by Licer on: January 25, 2010 02:10:23 PM

I was asked to make a cake with a crown on it. I didn't feel like using regular piping for decorating so I made these crowns out of royal icing formed around juice jugs. I am happy with how they turned out and am going to use this method again for other things!

14  cardboard kitchen in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Licer on: January 25, 2010 01:39:35 PM
I got the idea for this kitchen from here http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=33246545&ref=sr_list_15&&ga_search_query=cardboard+kitchen&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title
I made this for a little friend of my daughter's who wanted a kitchen like the one I made for her. https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=327342.20 The problem is that her parents don't have a lot of room so I wanted to make it collapsable. But I didn't want it to be so permanent that when they DO have enought space that they don't bother getting a new wooden one! It is surprisingly sturdy!

15  A kitchen to grow with in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Licer on: November 09, 2009 07:53:39 AM
Hi, I made this play kitchen for my daughter's 3rd Birthday. I got my inspiration from https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=142233.150 I saw her kitchen and had to try my own!
I had so much fun making it and thinking about what should go where. I used to think she had a lot of felt food. Now I have to make more so her fridge doesn't look so empty!
The sink and stove top.

The full view. Note the cookies baking in the oven!
Inside the dishwasher and oven.
I still need to get a long handle for the fridge but I live in a small town so it will have to wait.

16  Squooshie teddy cake, now with After photos in Dessert by Licer on: November 06, 2009 07:16:07 PM
I LOVE making cakes. And I am really critical of them. Usually I don't like certain aspects of my finished cakes but this Teddy Bear cake for my daughter's 3rd Birthday turned out just as I imagined he would. Anytime I start to critique him I look at his sweet face and don't care anymore! I hope you enjoy looking at him. Maybe tommorrow i'll post the AFTER pictures!(The party went well, the cake was enjoyed, the after pictures are below.)

The aftermath!
Still smiling!

17  Cake galore in Dessert by Licer on: March 24, 2009 01:41:04 PM
As I have said in past posts, I love to make cakes and am always trying out new ideas and techniques. Here are a few recent ones.

This is a three layer orange butter cake with orange mousse filling and thin chocolate between the layers.

This was my daughters birthday cake. She loves monkeys. The frosting looks crappy because her favorite is chocolate pudding and cool whip. Tastes great but hard to make look good! I made the monkey out of chocolate molding paste. Fun to work with and tastes better than fondant!

Deep chocolate cake with hazlenut mousse filling and raspberry buttercream

Carrot spice cupcake with cream cheese frosting and a dried pineapple flower. I made the flower by thinly slicing the pineapple and dehydrating it in the oven.
My nieces birthday cake. A real girly girl.
Tiny cupcake balls I got the idea here http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html  I am realizing that I really need to figure out how to take better pictures!

18  Solar system cake and unbelievably delicious thanksgiving cake in Dessert by Licer on: October 14, 2008 01:23:09 PM
My new passion is cake decorating. One day i would like to make cakes for a business but for now I do it for family events and for the practice. Theses are the last two cakes I made. The solar system one was for my niece's birthday. She turned 8 and is so smart. She was telling me all about nebulas and black holes. Too funny! The second one was for our Thanksgiving supper. The philosophy of my one day potential business is that I want to make cakes that look great AND taste even better. In my opinion, copious ammounts of butter cream or fondant isn't the nicest tasting dessert. I think I nailed it with this one!

19  Baby name wall hanging in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Licer on: July 10, 2008 02:04:03 PM
I threw a baby shower for my friend last week and didn't have alot of money to decorate so one of the tings I did was make a wall hanging of her name. I used cereal boxes for the letters and then glued scrapbook paper to them and embelished as I saw fit. I really like how it turned out.

20  Silhouettes for baby in CHALLENGE 27 ENTRIES by Licer on: May 01, 2008 11:51:57 AM
I wanted a light fixture for my daughter's room, (the house we moved into didn't have one.) But all the ones in the stores were either too expensive or too trade mark-y. I have just started to do stained glass and thought about making one out of glass but wasn't sure how to go about it without it getting too heavy. So, I brain stormed and decided to use shrink art! I drew the silhouettes onto the plastic and then used acrylic paint on the back. Popped them into the oven and Voila! I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. Putting them onto a shade was tough though. I was able to solder the "x" onto a ring but had enormous trouble soldering the brace peices on. I even bought another "x" and cut it up but it still wouldn't work!? I then gave it to my wonderful husband to take to work to tack weld. Crazy! I like it, what do you think?Finished product up close with the light onThe metal framework that gave me such a headacheAll the pretty little piecesIn perspective I think she likes it!
