1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit hat and booties for baby boy on: March 29, 2009 07:08:15 PM
I got a sweetheart knit hat pattern from a friend and just had to make it for my sweetie boy. The hearts in the pattern are subtle but create nice texture.  I also made the simple green booties. I had to extend the foot section to accomodate my boy's long feet.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Fleece coat for baby boy! on: March 29, 2009 06:36:55 PM
I made this fleece Kimono style coat by copying the pattern from a cotton coat in a girl's fabric. It has fleece for edging and for the tie. This is red fleece with cars.  I've also made this slightly smaller for when he was younger in a white fleece with elephants. It's cozy warm!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Boy's soft shoes on: March 29, 2009 06:26:44 PM
I was inspired by VanillaKisses and her fabulous shoes, so I had to make some for my son.
Here's my version of penny loafers.

The stitching's not perfect, but they look great from a few feet away. So easy to make!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Framed Jewelry holder on: April 11, 2008 08:43:44 PM
My favorite way of holding and displaying my jewelry is using this holder I made with a frame and window screen. It's backed with cotton fabric and has a row of decorated screws along the bottom to hold bracelets and necklaces.  This version is 5x7 and I have another one that is 8x10 that holds lots more.

Do you think this item would sell at craft shows or Etsy?
I'd like to use small hooks instead of screws on the frame. Anyone have a source for little brass hooks? I can't find any at my local hardware store and Home Despot and Loows don't have it either.
Thanks for your help!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blue check Apron with stitched Rooster on: April 11, 2008 08:35:19 PM
I made this for my sister-in-law based on a pattern.

Here's a closeup of the cross-stitched rooster:

I used the squares of the fabric as the guide.

She uses the apron on a regular basis while cooking for her 3 kids and loves it!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Protecting Porqupine quill beads on: May 01, 2007 02:01:14 PM
I'm restringing a natural bead necklace for a friend and it contains porqupine beads strung lengthwise. A lot of these beads are showing damage from the old silk string (cracks, parts where the quill is worn away from the string).

How can I restring the necklace to save these quills from further damage?
I'm planning to use Fine SoftTouch wire from SoftFlex Co. for the string.
