1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Awareness jewelry on: October 22, 2007 08:57:14 PM
October is Lupus awareness month (lavender) and November is PH awareness minth (periwinkle). At the store I saw periwinkle seed beads and bought 'em without a plan. Periwinkle is hard to find and I just got a little too excited.

Now I'm trying to figure out what I can make earring bracellets keyfobs whatever. I don't have a bead loom ummm just need ideas in general. Maybe some sort of bead flower pin? I dunno.

Silly good intensions...
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Corporate Accounts on: July 13, 2007 06:39:57 PM
I got my first corporate account today. They do baskets for their clients and loved my product. So now I'm garaunteed income monthly! This seems the way to go with crafty sales. While personal contacts are fantastic, a corporation is stabble.

Just wanted to throw that out here. If your product sounds like it could fit for giftiness... make a few stops with samples. Someone will think you're a godsend.
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Awesome Oxygen on: June 27, 2007 07:33:43 PM
So it's not super crafty... yet. But I think it has potential. I'm oxygen dependent and 29. I was tired of toting around my granny tank. Soooo, I spiced them up with thigh-high fishnets and stockings.

Thinking my more artistic line will happen for Christmas.

4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / onederful! Bubble Bath, Shower goo, even Shampoo! on: June 21, 2007 06:12:01 PM
I'm proud of this allin one goo. I like a lusciously bubbled bubble bath. Wasn't finding recipes I dug. So armed with knowledge of each ingredient I set out to make this perfect bath. So happy I want to share it with you...

Lemon Eucalyptus (the missing third might be found near my bathtub)

Oatmeal, Milk and Honey

2 cups Unscented shampoo base
1/2 cup Glycerine
1/2 cup Distilled water
1 tablespoon Cocamide DEA
1 ml oil scent of your choosing
1drop coloring

Combine ingredients. Funnel into three 8oz bottles and voila!

of course you can play with coloring and oils. I learned a few simple things.
1- I mix it right in my 32oz pyrex so I can use the pour spout to funnel them into the bottles
2-the one drop of color helps to know you've completely mixed the goo. When it's one solid color you're done!
3- The cocamide is worth its weight in gold... makes the most fantastic bubbles.
I know not saving the world. But I get giddy around good bubbles.
5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Sales Standards on: June 02, 2007 08:56:18 AM
I'm almost to selling... Just waiting for tax paperwork etc. to  clear.  Have a few questions for those of you who also sell.

Should I print up a label with ingredients to put on every box?
Or is it acceptable to just have a copy available if they ask.
Or do I need to specify ingredients at all? It is truly a cottage industry-- I think people wouldn't care too much about specifics.

I'm going to use Kraft paper boxes with the peep oval cut out. I want to wrap the soaps but not seal them (so that people can sniff and fall in love). What can i wrap them in so as not to defeat the peep box and awesome scents? Was thinking wax paper, but the opacity...

Thanks in advance for your help. I have major health issues and this business is key to my freedom. And being productive is so important to me. So any advise for starting up would also be appreciated.
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / want opinions: selling M&P on: May 05, 2007 11:46:23 AM
Right now I'm in the business end of creating my plan, hunting and gathering. I want to start selling bath products. I'd love to do a matching line of soap, bubble bath, milk bath, salts, lotions, balms, bath bombs blah blah blah. I have one motivating factor which is also my biggest challenge. I'm disabled and oxygen dependent and can't work regular hours. so playing with Lye isn't my favorite idea at the moment.

Here's the beef: Are selling M&P soaps just cheating? Sort of feels like a cheater line. Thus far my cheater soaps are welcome gifts. But who's more forgiving than family? Do you think the consumers will even know the difference?

BTW planning to sell through flower shops, boutiques, coffee shops etc if that makes a difference in consumer awareness.
