1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Heaven and Earth....what have I got myself into! on: February 05, 2010 07:45:54 AM
I love their designs so much, but I've been hesitant to actually order and begin one. Please keep us posted! I'd love to see a finished one!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Best ever gift (A little pic heavy) on: November 23, 2007 01:32:16 PM
I just received a birthday gift from my best friend in the whole world.
She's so crafty and artistic... so I just had to brag. (Mods, I looked for a "Birthday" forum under "Occasions", but I didn't see one. If this thread needs to be moved, please feel free to do so.)
Okay, here we go.... It all came in this adorable box.

And for the beauty of it all....

A pic of us and the good ole' days

Then the front of the card.... then inside...

"Happy Day" isn't a mistake. We've said it for years.
On the front of the flower seeds it says "For anxiety". She know's how hard of a time I'm going through right now, and her gift was so thoughtful and meaningful that it made me cry.
So... I had to show off her craftiness, and the fact that I have the best friend in the entire world.  Grin
3  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Show off your cake decorating skills! on: October 29, 2007 12:58:19 PM
The cake was actually a Betty Crocker mix "Funfetti"
I didn't think it would taste very good, but it was actually okay.

For my son's 3rd birthday, we had a "Diego" party. Not being able to find a Diego pan, or a icing transfer, I came up with the idea to make his cake loosely oriented with Diego by just doing vines around the edges. Tasted yummy!

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / The Recycled Car on: October 29, 2007 08:29:35 AM
I had to help my 7 year old son make a model vehicle for cub scouts.
After searching through the various models at the store, and having no time to complete one of these monsterous feats, I came up with this!
Made completley of cardboard, duct tape, packing tape and paper clips (for the axles).

It has bucket seats, with an armrest in the center, seatbelts, an actual dash board console with speedometer, steering wheen and radio, doors that open, and, my son's idea, afterburners.

Made in 2 hours with no planning whatsoever. We had a great time making this.
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Cardboard toy kitchen for my daughter (a ton o' pics) on: October 26, 2007 07:03:40 AM
AMAZING!!! When I first saw the picture (before reading the text) I thought the post was regarding the fact that someone had made a curtain for a toy kitchen.... I didn't realize you had made the entire thing!
I also agree that you could make a business selling this pattern!
And possibly other things as well.... maybe a matching dishwasher and refrigerator upgrade package???
I tried doing something to this affect, but with making a model car for my son's scout meeting. It did NOT come out anywhere near this good!
I already hit "THIS ROCKS!!"

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Pinup Onepiece Swimsuit - tips and hints? on: October 16, 2007 12:53:22 PM
I love their clothing. I actually almost bought this swimsuit this summer, but due to having just bought 4 the week before I saw this one, decided against it. I thought of sewing it, but I don't sew well, and the thought of sewing stretchy fabric is sooooooo scary to me. I never can get it quite right.
I would think it is made out of a base layer swimsuit, with a secondary panel over the front of it. Maybe instead of sewing it all from scratch, you could find a similar regular one piece to use as your base, and just "reconstruct" (I use the term loosley, as you would really only be adding, not taking apart) it to make it like the one in the pic???
Please post pics if you decide to make it!!!

YAY! Another SWFL related thread!!!
I'm in Fort Myers! Are you guys still around? Alot of the stuff I do is when I have the time. I try to sew, crochet, recon, etc, but due to 2 young kids, and a serious lack of time, I don't get to do as much as I want.
I even have a bucket in my crafting closet labeled "Crafts on Hold" Sad

I saw Fort Myers nearly spit out my coffee!!! Shocked Shocked Shocked
No one I knew before moving here had ever even heard of this place until I moved here. My own father thought I lived up by Jacksonville until a couple of years ago, when I had been living here 3 years already!!!
