71  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A couple of works from my printmaking days on: June 10, 2007 04:46:56 AM
Hi everyone, me again.

This time it's a couple of my prints that I have done. I really like printmaking but don't have any room to do it at home so its only when I get to go on a course I do it. Happy viewing, and feedback always appreciated. Grin

This is an etching, its hand tinted and acid ground. I really love this one, its one of my favourites.

This one is a screen print, using a collage of images to represent my parents.
72  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Oil painting from someone still finding her style on: June 10, 2007 04:33:10 AM
Hi everyone,

Here are a few paintings that I have been working on, as some of you expressed an interest in my work (and I don't have a blog to post them on). Hope you like them....

This one I'm very happy with (looks better in the flesh so to speak) but the varnish has "run" a little so if anyone knows how to fix that I would appreciate the help.

This painting is still in progress, I'm not quite happy with the side of the chapel.

Happy viewing and comments always welcome...

edit: for some reason the pictures are not uploading so I have had to put in as links. If anyone can help me with that, too, be greatly appreciated.

73  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Notebooks/HPDAs on: May 06, 2007 06:15:22 AM
Hi everyone

I've found instructions for these little notebooks in the book Making Stuff, they call them Hipster PDAs. I thought they were a great way of using up all my small bits of textured wallpaper I had lying around. I hope you like them and appreciate any feedback.

This is the blue mosaic one and the red circle one - unfortunately I accidentally scratched the cover of the red one when I was screwing in the chicago screw:

The covers are in the wallpaper and I used blank index cards in the middle. The separators are bits of clear coloured plastic appropriated from old document holders etc.

And this is close up of the corner:

I've bought some really funky purple textured paper so I am doing one for a friend now with a matching photo album. Wish me luck!
74  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Steiner Dolls and Bibs on: May 06, 2007 06:05:23 AM
Hello everyone!

This is my first post of my craftiness  Grin  I made these Steiner Dolls and bibs for a friend who had a little girl very recently. The instructions came from a book I purchased from Amazon called Making Stuff: An Alternative Craft Book .

This is the Steiner dolls:

My friend loves purple so I gave the "girl" purple hair using cross-stitch embroidery threads I had lying around. It took me ages to find the instructions on the internet for attaching hair.

This is the bibs I also made:

I originally was going to make a quilt but found out that my friend's mum had already made one. Luckily I hadn't started and thought this was a fun way of using the fabric. The words on the pockets say "Food!" on the green one and "Smile" on the yellow one.

This will give you a better idea of the size of the dolls. The bibs are about 30cm long:

I also made a small tote bag in the baby fabric from what was left over but forgot to take a photo of that! Sad

Anyway, hope you like these. Would really appreciate your feedback.  Smiley
75  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Looking for "Dad" Gift Ideas on: May 06, 2007 05:13:52 AM
Hi Everyone!

I need a gift idea for my dad as his birthday is coming up in about 3 weeks. I have about 2 weeks to make something as I have to post it to him (he lives in Australia, I live in England).

What my dad likes is:
- Golf
- BBQs
- The beach
- Wines
- Model railways
- Country and western music

He also does a lot of travelling in his job, either flying across the country or driving around the state.

My skill set is mostly limited to sewing and paper crafting. Unfortunately my knitting and crocheting skills leave a lot to be desired. The only thing is I can't send any baked items (as much as I love baking) as the Australian customs can get a bit iffy on letting them in. Any ideas would be gratefully received.  Grin

Many thanks
