1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Best Yarn for Feather and Fan? on: July 01, 2007 06:42:09 PM
It's still acrylic, but I'm doing a feather and fan shawl right now in Bernat BabySoft. It looks fantastic and feels fantastic. And it drapes awesomely.
2  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Magknits Calla Knitalong Anyone?! on: June 26, 2007 12:38:23 PM
I hate to bring up an old thread, I really do....but with so many lovely Callas, and me dying to make one, I was wondering - does anyone have a copy of this pattern written out? (IE: The charts dissected into words?) I'm dyslexic, so charts mess me up big time. If not, could any one of you lovely folks help me chart it on my own?

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Inspiration? on: June 25, 2007 07:08:43 PM
Great answers guys. I picked up my knitting because of my grandma. She taught me.

I keep knitting because I can't stop...but sometimes I need a kick to keep going. Which is why I asked you guys about everything.

Thanks for the insightful responses!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Inspiration? on: June 24, 2007 01:47:42 PM
What inspires you guys? What inspires you to knit? What makes you want to finish a project?

If you design your own knitting projects, where do you draw your inspiration from? What would you say your style is, if you have one? What do you think is missing from the knitting world that you love thoroughly?

Just curious.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Dense Stitch Patterns? on: June 20, 2007 01:38:35 PM
I don't know how else to phrase it. I'm looking to knit a bag where the likelihood of things slipping through the stitches is minimal.

I'm lazy, so I don't want to have to line it (if at all possible), and I really dislike felting things.

What is the densest, most solid stitch pattern you guys can think of? I'm thinking I might knit the yarn on needles smaller than recommended for it, so that might help. But a solid stitch pattern would be a great find, too.

Any recommendations? Thanks!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Best first lace shawl? on: June 19, 2007 06:43:18 PM
A basic feather and fan stitch makes an awesome first lace shawl. It's what I did and it looked fancy without me becoming frustrated by it.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Mesh OSW... just in time for summer! on: June 19, 2007 06:40:52 PM
The One Skein Wonders always look so horrible...until I see them modeled by someone! Then they're just awesome to look at! It just proves you can never tell what something looks like just by seeing it on a hanger or laid out on the floor. Gorgeous!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My Mariah on: June 19, 2007 06:39:39 PM
I've been dying to finish...okay, start...Mariah for the longest time. Seeing this has inspired me to put it back on my list of projects! Did you find any specific parts of the pattern super challenging?

This is too cute! I love the color. The material looks like it would be very pleasant to hold.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Wire jewellery on: June 19, 2007 06:35:37 PM
These are simply gorgeous! Does knitting with wire tend to hurt your hands? I've got callouses from knitting in general, and I wear them proudly, but it sounds like knitting with wire might cause some discomfort beyond what I'm used to....

How does it feel?
