11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / First Crocheted Afghan! on: October 16, 2008 01:08:52 PM
This is my first crocheted aphgan. i made it for my great aunt for Christmas, and I seriously want to keep it:) It's just made of Vanna's Choice Yarn. the tanish color is called "linen" and the other three I don't know, they are left over from another project I did (and still haven't completed:( But they are obviously varying shades of pink. it's roughly 4.5 X 4.5. So I think it's a really nice size:) It's not as wonky as it looks in the pics, only a little wonky actually.
I did a one row Singgle, one row double throughout the piece. the border is six rows of single, one row of treble then six more rows of single all the way around. That last row of single took FOREVER!!!
I hope you like it and I hope she likes it more Grin

There's not really a spot in the middle of the blanket. I think my camera may be dying:(

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Needle Book and Measuring Tape Cozy - More Felt Goodness on: October 15, 2008 04:50:43 AM
So, totally inspired by monkeythumb. She does these needlebooks so well, I had to try one (or twenty) myself Wink And thanks again to graced for the tute on the measuring tape cozy!!!Loving it more every day!
So, part of my MIL's Christmas gift. I'm also going to make a pin cushion. All felt. There's a yellow and a green in there. But my camera doesn't like working without flash (that may be a user issue Cheesy).

Here's a pic of the two together (My MIL has a craft room and it's all yellow, she buys yellow things just to put in there and the walls are yellow. And last year she started liking the bright green too. So, that's why I chose these colors...)I really like the way the flowers turned out. They make me happy.

The front of the needlebook.I really like the way the flowers turned out. They make me happy. This was my very first needlebook:)

And the back. Under the center of the starburst is where the retract button lives:)

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think!!
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Measuring Tape Cozy made from felt on: October 01, 2008 08:30:09 PM
First, give credit where credit is due: Thanks to Graced for the wonderful Tute here https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=231569.0
Thanks also to monkeythumb for listening to my confusion and giving me advice.

I finished my first one. This one will be kept by me, since it's horribly ugly and I got blood on it. But I did this one just to see if I could and I can. I'll be making about six of these as christmas gifts this year, so I'm glad it woked out. Go easy on me....

Any idea what I'm doing wrong with the button pull, it looks messier than it should. I know the stiching is messy too, and I'm working on that.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Another Andrea Zuill Patterm. Thanks!! on: September 28, 2008 08:55:48 PM
I did this unicorn from one of Andreas free patterns. They really are a lot of  fun to work with!
I put it on a dark pink/purple tee for a little girl (she turns 4 on november). I used mostly cotton pearl floss and I used water soluble solvey. Mostly back stith and stem stitch but there is also some split stitch and satin stitch...I think it turned out pretty good. Any suggestions on how I could make it better (since I still have a little time?)

15  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Clover Bird Embroidery on: September 22, 2008 09:50:41 AM
Hi all. I just sewed this applique onto a pice of courdoroy. Eventually, maybe even today, it will be the outside of a purse. I love these birds and trees from an aunt martha pattern and I needed a new fall bag, so here is the beginning. I'm a little addicted to embroidery right now...

It's not as wonky as it looks in the pic, it is wonky, but not as wonky Wink

On of the cute little birds.

Thanks all for looking!
16  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Woo - The Not So Scary Ghost (Felt Goodness:) on: September 15, 2008 04:41:00 PM
Michael and I were reading this book and he looked up at me and said "Mommy will you make me a Woo?" Of course I said yes, and here he is. Sparkly white felt with a name tag on his bottom. michael picked the colors of the eyes and the shape and size of the mouth:) This was the first time he ASKED me to make him anything, so I'm ridiculously proud:) Just a blanket stitch around the body, stuffed with polyfil. The larger boy in the pics is the DH. He likes woo too:)

18  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Finished one Skullholder on: September 11, 2008 08:40:15 PM
I LOVE it! I'm crocheting a set for my friend who loves skills (seriously, she and her family have REAL skulls, cows, sheep, opossums.....all over their houses) and her kitchen is 50's red and whited diner themes stuff. It really wasn't all that difficult and it was my first time making a picture inside something (the white skull part)A LOT of fun, but my hands hurt after attaching the two pieces, that's harder than it looks Embarrassed
Here's a pic. I used lily sugar and cream in red and white:)

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated:)
19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 5 embroidered onesies on: September 08, 2008 08:36:03 PM
Hello. A friend of mine just had her first baby, I decided to embroider a couple (ended up being all five!) These were so much fun. I think they'll be a staple at all baby showers from now on.
"Read to live, Live to Read" It's a statement that means a lot to her. I wish it would have turned out better, but it was my first try at embroidering onesies, so a lot of trial and error...

And this is all together....
Hope you enjoy!
