42  Re: Every Home Needs A Gnome.... SKIRT! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by daina on: August 01, 2008 01:10:17 PM
I LOVE it!!!

I bet you do!  Post a picture of you wearing yours!   Cheesy
That would require my hubster actually taking a picture (I can't seem to figure out how to use the timer) Maybe tonight:)

OK, figured out how to use the self timer, so the pics are horrible. I'm wearing the skirt today and have had two people ask if I made it and i said "No, a friend of mine made it JUST for ME!" I'm soooo giddy. it's super comfortable!
I apologize for the pics, but look how happy I am!

43  Re: IYP 9: Midsummer Masquerade Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by daina on: July 23, 2008 12:52:16 PM
I received from Iheartcapnhook today and loved everything!!! (So far....) She sent a large box, including some clothes that her son had outgrown and my son is soon to grow into. She then sent two packages for me and two for my boy. So this post is just my stuff. Because I am so impatient, I will have to post his when he wakes up from his nap:)

First, a very large hot pad, for large pots and a coaster. She can't find the other three coasters right now, but I'm sure I'll see them soon. The coasters were her way of testing the binding technique:) Yay!!!

Second. My Skirt!!!!I'm so excited to wear this in public. It's soooooooo cute I love the fabrics and the pattern and it's so dang comfy. It has an elastic waist (which , by the way, I have yet to try doing), so no matter how much weight I gain or lose, it will still fit!

Upclose of his gnomeyness...

My son with his packages (I swear, this kid is adorable!!)

She sent him a pillowcase with Bob the Builder, so now he and her son have matching pillowcases:) I hope it's already been washed, cause he wouldn't go to bed without it:) She also sent him a bean bag frog game, we tried for a while, but then he just started throwing the frogs. We'll try again tomorrow. But he loved it!!!!

Pic of the one of the bean bag frogs on a lily pad

And a pic of the Bob pillowcase and the frog:) The frog game came in it's very own pouch. Way to be organized:) You can tell she's got young children too:)

Thanks so much IHEARTCAPNHOOK!!!!!!! I HEART YOU!!!

45  Crochet blocks. Soon to be blanket! in Crochet: Completed Projects by daina on: April 24, 2008 05:57:10 AM
My sister in law and I decided to crochet a blanket for our husbands Mother (MIL). She is a great mother in law to both of us and her birthday was in March. So, between Christmas and mid March, we crocheted around 60 squares, we used the book "200 crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans". She lives in Dallas and at the time I lived in Chicago. We got together and had our other SIL's (MIL's daughters, husbands sisters) and our MIL help us figure out where to put the blocks. I have them here and am in the process of finishing up a few blocks and blocking. Then I will connect with brown yarn. Let me know what you think!

Most of the blocks, we just need to fill a few holes

MIL and her little dog Chelsea

This was at about 1 in the morning, all the men folk were sleeping in the living room and the women folk were gabbing and placing in the bedroom. these are our other SIL's (MIL daughters) helping with the placement. i was seriously sitting in the background taking pictures. i'm soooo bad at figuring out where things should go:)

For those of you who asked.........The yarn we used was Vanna's Choice Olive(174), Chocolate(126), Dusty Rose(140), Dusty Green(173), Antique Rose(143), Rose(142).

Hope you enjoy Please give me any criticism you may have, I need all the help I can get:)

46  Checkbook Cover in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by daina on: April 24, 2008 05:36:35 AM
Hello! I was going to make a wallet (a long one that would hold a checkbook). And Babyangel sent me the link for a great tute. But my mind got cluttered, so I just freehanded a long checkbook cover. I LOVE the fabric. The outside is a black vinyl with a floral type embossing and the inside is a cream twill with a blueish floral pattern. Very girly girl, but the vinyl gives it a little bit of a punk rock feel:)
Both fabrics came from my sister in law, she made me a knitting needle and crochet hook roll out of it, I will soon add a circ needle case to the list, but I wanted to sew something NOW!!!I just moved and finally have some of my stuff back:)
Thanks Babyangel for trying to help, I'm just a little too impatient right now, plus, my new bank didn't give me a new checkbook cover and I didn't want to spend 19 bucks to get a new one that didn't have the old bank name on it. Plus, this one is much cooler than one's you buy!

the Checkbook cover opened

And closed

47  Re: Gnome Swap Round 2 GALLERY!!! in The Swap Gallery by daina on: April 17, 2008 10:15:08 AM
I received!
Hello everyone! After the move, I am sooooo happy to receive from Seaofstars. She sent some beautiful and fun stuff!
Seaofstars: Thank you so much. I am so jealous of your sewing ability, especially the straight lines!!!!! So, without further ado....some pics!

A wonderful bag with two inside pockets and applique gnomes on the front. I believe this is reversible, but why would I hide the gnomes??Smiley

A zippered pouch for makeup or money and a small pouch with a snap (perfect size for a drivers license and credit card:)

Then, she got me a little gnome garden stake, some windchimes and some herbs to plant. These will be great in my new back yard!

Thanks again! I can't wait to use everything!

yippeeeeeeee Grin

OK, lots of pics, none of them good, but lots, and there are more in my pic hosting.....

First, everything came in this little box..luckily she really included a fruit roll up thingy too, or Michael may have been a little upset:)

Here's all the clothes laid out...."Doll" got 2 pair of shorts, 1 pair of pants, 1 Camo vest, 1 T-shirt (star wars), 1 long sleeve shirt and.......ASuper Hero Outfit (he's a super hero, you see?)

Doll flying in his superhero get up.

Michael showing Superhero Doll to everyone....

In this picture, Doll is wearing everything. The monster wouldn't let me take off one outfit to put on another...I had to keep adding layers.....Got a little difficult in the end.

Now he's got his boots and cape on too (Michael kept telling me I forgot something...)

(he's saying cheese.....what a kid)
I've got more pics in my picture hosting, didn't want to take up this whole gallery.......

Thanks so Much Eliea! (from me and the boy) Oh and she's still sending some more pants....How exciting!!!

Thank you thank you thank you..........................

OK. halblingefrau asked that i go ahead and post what I sent her. She's got to put some eyes on her little poppet first:) So here's what I sent...
All the goodies together (thjis is the only pick of the alova I sent. There's a purple, a rust and a tan/beige color. A yard of each..

The Jammies. I actually had the jersey fabric already...and thought it would make great jammies

The Eyes. I sent some 20mm some 15mm some clear some colored and some cat:) She's never gonna run out of eyes!! Grin

The poof chair (a purple girly poppet would look wonderful here)

And Doll modeling the chair

I'm glad she liked everything. I was getting a little worried, cause I did a lot of supplies, i didn't feel I measured up to all the craftiness:( But I'm Ok now...

50  Re: Owl Swap Round 5 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by daina on: February 14, 2008 01:45:16 PM
OK Guys. Get ready!!! I LOVE everything PURPLEHEATHER sent to me. She truly spoiled me, so this is an extremely pic obese post. It was SOOOOOOOOO worth the ridiculous wait between the GB and US Post systems:)
First up, what I pulled out of the package (I've been on a pink and green kick lately, purpleheather knew it:)

Closeup of the tote and the inside of tote......I love this. i love the combination of fabrics Grin

And the goofy action shot  Tongue

And embroidered felt pouch . The other side had spaces for my provocraft hooks (ergonomic hook set I own, great for people with hand or wrist issues:), soooo thoughtful!!! enough room to hold some yard or other crochet stuff, and sooo cute!

Purpleheather is a great stalker!!!!!She made these from my fave projects list...

And on my feetsies (they're still there Smiley)They fit Great!!!!!

I'm horrible at taking pics of things, but if you look closely, they're are owls there. They're wrist warmers:) off my wist...

A little Owl ceramic from PurpleHeathers Mom and Dad (thoughtfulness runs in the family) sorry about the yucky pic:(

I love these little guys. They're little brooches (pins, badges, whatever they are called in whatever country you live in:) They were on my wist too:)

Purpleheather actually asked me if I wanted this guy, cause he had been made for something else. the snowy owl is my favorite owl and this guy is amazing! The plack parts are so fuzzy. The little monster is asleep right now, but I'm sure he's going to take posession once he wakes up:)

She also included stitch markers pins a little felt needlebook with a little ribbon to put a yarn needle on...and owl pin cushion, tailors chalk, a needle guage and a measuring tape. My goodness!!

Oh, and we can't forget the chocolate, seriously it tastes better from over there than here

Everything together opened, notice the open bag of chocolates! Wink

OK, sorry about the massive reply, but seriously, best swap ever!!!Of course, it was my very first swap, I am sooooooooooo stoked about EVERYTHING!!

Thanks Purpleheather for being such a fantastic swap partner!!!!!!!!
