41  Pretty Paper Flower Rings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Kimmermonroe on: October 01, 2011 08:45:28 PM
I found these flowers in the scrapbooking department and fell in love.
As just paper they wouldn't stand up to any wear at all so I sealed them with polyacrylic(it darkened them) and added them to ring blanks.

I love the way it turned out.... I hate to part with it!

43  Mixedmedia Tree of Life in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Kimmermonroe on: October 01, 2011 08:34:38 PM
I saw this all wood frame in the 2nd hand store and fell in love with it! I needed to make a painting for a charity basket for my DH's work. I've always wanted to paint a Tree of Life so I gave it a try!
I covered the background with tissue paper then painted it with acrylics and ink pencils.
I used acrylics and puffy paint for the rest of the painting. The frame was already stained black so I just had to touch it up.

44  Fashionable Pin Cushion Sz 9 in Completed Projects by Kimmermonroe on: August 07, 2011 03:28:47 PM
So did you ever have a idea in your head, get everything you need , then cut the top of your thumb off cooking dinner and can't do it? No? Just me then...lol.. This has been on my "To-Do" list.
All you need is:
A Shoe- it doesn't need to be a high heel
A Sock- not a nylon, your putting pins in it
And Sand- Keeps the needles sharp and it weighs it down.

45  Alice: The Madness Returns- Steampunk Alice for Comic Con in Costumes: Completed Projects by Kimmermonroe on: July 04, 2011 03:33:27 PM
We are finally going to Comic Con in San Diego, I'm a little excited(OK, I'm freaking excited). Anyway I asked my daughter if she wanted to dress up months ago and she couldn't decide. Then the game came out and that was it, Steampunk Alice. But me being me I wanted to upcycle the costume..
A Screen shot:
She had the boots already and I did order the tights and buckles($7). The dress base, the ruffles(came off a skirt I loved the color), and the corset(a pillow case) I thrifted. $6, $1.50, $.50. The grommets, ribbon, studs, and anything else... I had on hand. So all together it cost about $15.
The dress started out as a one piece cocktail dress but I wanted it to be 2 pieces that way she was more comfortable and could separate the pieces if she wanted to wear them that way later. I thought I'd have more salvage from the dress to make the sleeves, but I had to dig through my stash to find something that matched.
Ok... I'm done talking now...
I gave my teenager a large knife! Yikes!

Tea Time:

The back: I made the bow from water color paper

And a close up of the front, and her smiling:

48  Dressing up some purses with paint and feathers in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Kimmermonroe on: June 05, 2011 04:30:34 PM
I can't resist a deal on a purse... Garage sales, estate sales, clearance aisle, thrift stores,.... I'm there. So I'm on a new "Dress up a Black Bag" kick... So here are my jazzed up purse cuties.. FYI all 7 purses together(there is 2 missing from the pics) added up to just $20. The fabric paint and feathers I had on hand already.. Doesn't everybody have feathers on hand?
First and formost my favorite:

49  The Brush is back! Dia De Los Muertos skull brushes and more! in Polymer Clay: Completed Projects by Kimmermonroe on: May 31, 2011 04:01:53 PM
I took a little break from making any new brushes... My sewing machine took control for a little while. Here are my new brushes... I've recently been looking at some Dia De Los Muertos Skull art and I've been amazed and inspired so I decided my hand at it... Be gentle I've never done those before...lol

I found this old key in my "I'll do something with this one day" stash

Since Twilight came out people are always requesting the Wolf Goddess brush.

Finally... I was playing with my metallic pigments and these brushes came out extra shiny.. FYI the flat background behind the figure are faux metal backspash tile samples from our remodel.

50  Upcycled Owl Pillow in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Kimmermonroe on: May 23, 2011 04:48:52 PM
So once upon a time there was a sweater that I loved that I spilled paint on and ruined... I didn't want to toss it so I made it into a pillow instead... I used some suede from a vest I picked up to to use for another project to make the wings... I love him!
