1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / sealing a collage on metal? on: February 27, 2005 04:56:31 PM
I'm trying to make some little paper collages on some flat, enameled metal charms and then seal it and use it in earrings. There's so many damn kinds of glue and sealer -  does anyone have any recommendations...something that dries clear and shiny, is permanant, and safe to wear? Thanks for any help.
2  UNITED STATES / Rhode Island / Re: visting Providence....tips anyone? on: February 17, 2005 03:38:47 PM
Thanks everyone! I could be wrong, but I believe a resale license is just basically a seller's license, for sales tax purposes.....if you have a webshop or sell at craft fairs you probably need one anyway.....I'm not sure when I'm coming yet....probably whenever I can find the cheapest ticket....but before I go I'll post here....

I realized that all my favorite ebay bead/findgin sellers were from RI, so I did a little investigating.

I found this article:

and this is one of the big places: (80,000 square feet!)

Only thing is, you have to have a resale license.

I'll be coming from Texas.

6  UNITED STATES / Rhode Island / visting Providence....tips anyone? on: February 13, 2005 02:49:28 PM
I'm planning on visiting Providence to shop at the closeout bead places.....anyone have suggestions on cool neighborhoods to stay in? Good places to hang out by yourself? (traveling alone).

how come there are two galleries both called "craft supply grab bag swap"? are they for the same swap?

Yes, apparently princess_me started one, and I didn't see it when I went to start mine. I tried to delete mine, but can't seem to do it.
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: making money on: February 11, 2005 06:33:09 PM
Here in Austin, they're looking for crochet/knitting instructors at Michael's. There are much cooler places to take classes....however I did take a crochet class there once and the woman teaching it seemed to know absolutely everything.
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: selling wares abroad on: February 11, 2005 09:22:58 AM
This is an interesting idea. I know I read an article about someone selling their paintings while traveling (at outdoor shows). I will see if I can locate it.

hey - I just thought you could decoupage the painted part of the display cases. Maybe with old photographs from a thrift store, or origami paper.....or whatever.
