I'm no expert but I would construct the garment with the ribbing fixed to the outer layer then put in the lining and hand stich it in place.

This reminds me of my dress. I got married in '93.

  Don't alter anything till you try the dress on with the underware you'r going to have on the day. it can make a big diffrence.

Denim patch work seat covers, hardwearing and washable. You could even get away with denim curtains. I would change the flooring if it is carpet to lino as it will be easier to keep clean. Just think of all that sand.   Some nice ideas here. http://www.snailtrail.co.uk/meet_the_campers.htm
