The black and white looks so classy!  The molding is a nice touch too!
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Anda dress from burdastyle on: August 20, 2008 04:04:02 PM
So my roommate has wanted me to make her something since I started sewing, and so this weekend we went to the fabric store to pick something out.  The pattern was SUPER easy because it's just a simple dress--no zippers or buttons required--but looks great with a belt.  I am jealous when she wears it, so I figure I'll make one for myself soon.  Plus you gotta love free patterns!! http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/show/29

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Sambuca Jacket on: August 11, 2008 02:16:56 PM
I made this from Doris Chan's book that I love.  I used the leftover yarn from the Walking after midnight skirt I made a while back.  It was surprisingly easy to make.  I still need to buy a clasp for the closure--i'm using a bobby pin in the meantime.

I love the detail in the front!!! Did you use a pattern?
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Refinished bookcase on: August 06, 2008 01:14:48 PM
I inherited this little bookcase from a friend who was moving.  It was just one of those mdf covered in laminate pieces of furniture from like walmart or target, so I didn't feel bad about redoing it.
I forgot to take a picture of it before, but I put a stencil of fern leaves made of contact paper on the doors, then I primed the whole thing and spraypainted it a light green.  (I hope the apartment managers don't notice the light green tinge to the porch...)
If I ever do a project like this again I will DEFINITELY choose a simpler design for the stencil.  It was like surgery trying to take the contact paper off without taking off any paint with it since the surface of the laminate is so slick.  I had to take an exacto knife and score around the ENTIRE image and painstakingly peel it off one leaf at a time....
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  The image is a lot subtler than I had intended, but I think it's ok.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / cute halter vest on: July 24, 2008 11:49:54 AM
this is my second major sewing project and I am soo proud!  It's the butterick 4815 pattern, and i love it!  It's lined and everything!  and since I made it all from remnant fabrics, the entire project cost about $5!!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My first piece of clothing!!! on: July 10, 2008 11:14:41 PM
I am soooo proud of myself for finishing this.  It is from the pattern Vogue 8469, which is my first time using a pattern.  I am so happy with the way it turned out.  I almost gave up after having to rip apart the bodice for the 5th time, but I finally got it right.  I am also really proud of myself for putting in a zipper.  I don't know if I did it right, but it looks good enough to me!  (I also just noticed my awesome masking tape roll bracelet in the picture! haha)

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Photo journals on: May 22, 2008 07:34:57 AM
The pages seem to be pretty secure.  I didn't spent all that much time trying to make them perfect, I just got it as flat as I could.  I can open the book all the way open and it seems alright.
10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Photo journals on: May 21, 2008 08:27:42 PM
I don't know if anyone has posted this tutorial for making journals, but it's really good!

she posted a video tutorial and it is so super easy to do.  I made one tonight with some of the photos that didn't turn out so well from my tries with pinhole photography and the paper from an old notebook with leftover pages.  Then I just glued on some cutout images from magazines to make it a little more interesting looking. Most of the time I spent on this was waiting for glue to dry!
