21  Elephant Intarsia Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by lemonadelemonade on: November 27, 2005 05:18:58 PM
I started this months ago, with many other projects in between.   But now is a great time to finish, as it is an oh-so-very Thanksgiving-y sweater!
This picture butchers the colors; the sleeves are a warmer carrot orange and behind the elephant is really a deep red.

It's far from perfect, but I guess that's the price I pay for refusing to use patterns.  Undecided  That's all right, I love it!

22  Pretty baby sweater with lacy cables! in Knitting: Completed Projects by lemonadelemonade on: November 21, 2005 06:07:59 PM
I made this sweater for my best friend's niece, who is about nine months old.

I listed all of the sweater's imperfections on my blog because I'm perpetually unsatisfied, but then I figured that the baby won't care that I forgot to repeat one eyelet row. Cheesy Silly me!

Stitch detail

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of her wearing it... in fact, I haven't even seen her in it yet, but I hear that it fits well so I'm happy.  I will try to get a picture to post once I see her, because she is a very beautiful baby!

24  one kid's attempts at artistic photography in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by lemonadelemonade on: October 16, 2005 09:57:00 PM
I take digital photographs because they're easy.  Don't get me wrong, I admire the patience of knowing one's way around a darkroom, but I personally am a total follower of the "snap, delete, snap, delete, snap, 'ooh, pretty'" method.  Some of them actually turn out nice, but it's usually an accident.   Wink
So I'm not as much of an artist as most of you, but I am still proud of these.  (some of them got a little grainy when they were resized, sorry.)

I have a bunch more interesting ones from my travels, but these are all from my backyard so they go together.  I might post more if you guys encourage me.   Smiley

25  Little bird on my skirt. in Needlework: Completed Projects by lemonadelemonade on: October 03, 2005 05:55:04 PM
This is my first endeavor in real embroidery.  Grin   It's a little bird on my ankle-length denim skirt, which was in need of more character.
Africa-shaped wings are better than wing-shaped wings.  Agree?

27  The Ugly Organ, recreated on my butt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by lemonadelemonade on: September 21, 2005 07:24:35 PM
I love the band Cursive.  Here is the cool cover to their album called The Ugly Organ:

So I decided I wanted to try to copy the image onto my pants:

And now, the ever-necessary moneymaker shot:

It would have been better if I'd made the keys fewer and thicker so they wouldn't be so scrunched onto the pocket.  It also would have been better if I had yellow fabric paint--but alas.
Anyway, I think I did a pretty good job for freehanding it at 10:00pm when I was too bored to do homework but too restless to sleep.

28  Unknown Lace Stitch in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by lemonadelemonade on: September 14, 2005 04:20:37 PM
Hey, I was wondering if anyone who is good with different stitches could help me out.  I was in Target and I saw a cute girl's knit cardigan.  And, like I'm sure many of you do, I was getting distracted and separated from my family trying to figure out how it was made.  It had this cool lace stitch I've never seen before... it looked like a starburst.  I wish I had a photograph of the stitch but I settled for making a lousy Paint picture of it.  Sorry guys.

Okay, so every light blue loopy thing on there represents a stitch.  Upon examination I saw that the one stitch in the middle was slipped for three rows and then, when the new stitch is made in it, the running bars behind it (which are dark blue here to show you what I mean) are brought up (or down) to be gathered in the middle.  So I tested out the bottom half of it...

But a) it looked much cooler and more starburst-like on the sweater, and b) I don't know how to make the top half.
I know that was confusing, but if anybody has an idea of what they're talking about and has actually bothered to read this far, I love you.

29  Neon Citrus Tube Top in Knitting: Completed Projects by lemonadelemonade on: September 08, 2005 06:30:01 PM
Here is possibly the most fun project I've done yet.  Don't tell me it's the wrong season.  It was summer when I started this, anyway.

So I wanted to do vertical stripes because horizontal stripes can be so boring, but I also wanted a challenge.  So I came up with the idea to wrestle with 16 balls of yarn on every row until I had nice little intarsia vertical stripes.  Yeah, it's just as painful as it sounds, but the colors were what kept me willing to finish.  The colors make me so happy.

Here it was when I started:

...And here it is finished!

Of course you wear a hot pink bra with a tube top... who doesn't?

30  "slouchy" corduroy purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by lemonadelemonade on: September 05, 2005 10:53:36 AM
All right, there is already an abundance of purses just like this round the forum, so I'll make this short and sweet:

It was my first time sewing a lined bag so it's pretty sloppy.
