Fittingly, here's one last sunset as this form of Craftster closes down.

Thanks for all the amazing LV rounds and friendships formed here! I'll see you all over on the new forum.

I didn't know this was here either!

64 days, 3 hours and 40 minutes

Seems like it should be more. I can't help but look around my home and see so many things I've had for YEARS that I received from swaps and members here. From my tree skirt, to art on my walls, to handcrafted bags, to a gorgeous lap quilt, to embroidered dish towels, to cat toys - so much of my life has been touched by the kindness, awesomeness, and creativity of those here on this site. I could fill a gallery with the wonderful things I've filled my home with from this site!

Suffice to say, this place in this form will be greatly missed. But, like my namesake we will rise again like the phoenix and be reborn into something new and wondrous I am sure from these ashes.

Thank you to everyone who has made this such an amazing ride all these years.

So one last time, this is that crazy tree of life girl, PFD herself, aka Miss M. Turner signing off.

For those of you who have been asking how you can help, I am organizing a Craftster Garage Sale via eBay, that will feature handmade items from some of your favorite Craftster friends, to raise funds toward building our new home.  I have started gathering and listing items.  Please stay tuned for a link to the sale in the next day or two as I get more items up!
Do you need donations of items?

I still have the magnetic advent calendar you made for me in one of the 12 days of Christmas swaps from nearly a decade ago. My kids love it and it is a tradition for them to move all the magnets.
OMG I remember that! I can't believe you still have it. That's so awesome it became a tradition. I'm so flattered!!

This is crazy. How many people who have launched successful businesses started out right here on craftster? I know for sure there was smarmyclothes and phoenixfiredesigns, to name a couple.
Yeah this site saw me through my major health crisis (3lbs of tumors in my uterus and hysterectomy at age 34) and then when I took the plunge and starting making jewelry full time after. I've now been supporting myself through my one woman business for 8 years now. The encouragement and support I received here on Craftster really helped bolster my confidence and quiet my little "you're not good enough" voice in my head.

I echo everyone else - shock, panic, fear, disbelief, and deep, deep sense of loss. I have loved this community and it's been such a big part of my online life since I joined in 2007. Heck, I've been in like 20 rounds of the Traveling Little Visitor swap (and am currently right now!) and made friends I've literally met in real life because of this site!! (Seriously, even good friends who live overseas I've met in person from this site!)

I just don't know what to say. How can this be?? How can they just shut us down like this? So many things in my home came from swaps. They're pieces of my life and the thought of losing that connection to all of you is devastating.

Went up to my mom's house yesterday to make some pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving.

And I snagged a picture of Iki with my mom's salt and pepper shakers because they are perfectly sized for her!

(Now, the thing you have to understand about the Pilgrim set is that it's a long-running set of commercials from THE Florida supermarket, Publix. They kinda have a bit of a minor cult status around here and Publix features them in different ads dating back about ten years now. Here's the first one I think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVLOydduvqg A few years into the commercials, they actually made them into real salt and pepper shakers you could buy. So my mom puts them out as part of her decorations for Thanksgiving.)

The weather was absolutely perfect yesterday. 72F (22C), cool, low humidity, light breeze, blue skies, and sunny. So I took a mental health afternoon and hit the local conservation park nearby and showed Iki some of natural Florida.

This is part of the estuary at the edges of Tampa Bay. They rent canoes and have launches so you can also paddle the waterways of the park in addition to the walking/hiking paths.

Some of the natural underbrush and pinewood flats common to the area.

They have a boardwalk over the marshes edges so you can walk through the mangroves.

We wound up walking the Otter Trail. It was 1.7 miles.

We even encountered an armadillo rooting around and eating dinner!  Grin

The end of the trail took us across some salt marshes.

And by this point, the sun was getting low, so it was time to head home. But what a nice afternoon we had!
