1  Re: Tudors Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by frenchnewwave on: April 16, 2008 06:32:29 AM
I'm so glad you like everything! I wore the necklace and earring set you made me to my mom's birthday dinner over the weekend. So fabulous!

Here's a clearer pic of the necklace I made because I just love the pendant!

And the 'Tudora' (http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTtudora.html) asymetrical neckwarmer - so fun to knit!!

Unfortunately I couldn't send that same brooch b/c it was a gift from my mom. But it gives an idea of how it can be dressed up.

This was such a fun swap. Thanks to all involved!!

2  Re: Favorite Color Swap - Winter 2008 in The Swap Gallery by frenchnewwave on: April 11, 2008 01:28:16 PM
Here are my fabulous items from jrsloane1! My color was yellow and I just adore everything she sent.

1. A large lined tote that I am going to use at my SnB tomorrow!
2. A smaller canvas pouch to hold supplies.
3. A crocheted Nintendo DS case that is already in use!
4. A cute giraffe eraser -- too cute to actually use, lol. He will sit on my desk.
5. My fav - a lovely knitted lace scarf. And it seems to be a cotton/blend, so it's perfect for these warmer but still chilly days.

The scarf (which I've worn twice already):

Closeup of the cheery fabric (and the cute eraser):

Everything is just perfect and will definitely get lots of use! Thanks again!

3  The Tudors in New Swap Theme Ideas by frenchnewwave on: February 11, 2008 02:59:26 PM
Any interest in a Tudors swap? I'm thinking about the Showtime show, but also anything to do with Tudor history - Henry VIII, any of his six wives, 16th century England, etc.

6  Fluffy Cuff Mittens - without the fluff, and with a snowflake in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by frenchnewwave on: January 03, 2008 07:13:19 AM
Here are the mittens I recently finished. I did a contrasting 2x2 rib instead of the fluffy cuff because I'm not really a fluffy kind of girl. I also embroidered a snowflake on the top of each because I thought they looked a little plain without.

Note: these come out sort of large. I have small hands, so I started the top decreases about an inch early.

7  First sweater - done! in Knitting: Completed Projects by frenchnewwave on: December 17, 2007 12:42:22 PM

It's from the Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits.

Chunky boucle yarn originally bought for a blanket, until I realized it didn't match my couch at all. So I decided to make a plain, baggy, around-the-house sweater for when it's chilly. It's ok that it's ugly, because it is WARM and my first finished sweater. Now that I've got the beginner's jitters out of my system, I can move on to better things.

Seaming wasn't so bad, but was challenging with this particular yarn. There was very little visible stitch definition, so I sort of had to wing it. But it turned out just fine.

I don't think I would use this pattern for a sweater I actually intended to wear outside of the house without some modifications. The smallest size swims on me, and there is no waist shaping. Good for lounging around the house, or an 80s-themed Flashdance party, not so good for everyday wear.

Thanks for looking.

8  Holiday cards 2007 in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by frenchnewwave on: December 11, 2007 08:55:58 AM
I make cards every year. This year I had a little less time, so I did the first batch, and everyone else will likely be getting store-bought (boo). Such is life.

10  Holiday Bling Belt in Knitting: Completed Projects by frenchnewwave on: December 10, 2007 06:12:08 PM
Pattern: Belt du jour from SnB Nation. Easy and pretty! Normally I like more subdued buckles, but why not shimmer for the holidays.
