2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Four Ingredients or Less? on: February 16, 2009 05:59:37 AM
i found this really quick and super healthy tomato sauce recipe somewhere once. though i don't really make it anymore.

1 can of crushed tomatoes
1 can of lentil soup
.5 - 1 pack of chopped frozen spinach.

you fry up the onion ( i add garlic too but that would be more than 4 ingredients. but garlic goes in everything in my house!)
add the lentil soup and simmer for a couple minutes
add the tomatoes and simmer for about 10 -20 minutes
stir in the frozen spinach (make sure you get the chopped/diced variety!)
cook all together until you think it's done or you get sick of cooking!

also add any herbs you have on hand. you could also just use a can of lentils but then you dont' get all the other veggies, too.

there was also a quick tomato pasta sauce posted on here that is only onions, garlic, herbs and tomatoes. so it's more of a marinara sauce.

oh and try and use whole wheat pasta. i know it's more expensive, and because of that i would never go for it. but my 6'5" (and never-ending stomach) boyfriend and i find we eat about half as much of the whole wheat kind and it actually fills you up - you don't get hungry again in a few hours the way you do with white pasta.
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: What's your weird guilty pleasure? on: February 16, 2009 05:48:15 AM
ooh all these sound sooo weirdly delicious!

once at a party i dipped some dill pickle chips into cool whip and it was AMAZING! the combination of salty, dilly chips, with the sweet smoothness of cool whip -- definitely try it if you're into dipping fries into frosty's at wendy's (or into milkshakes)

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Past Times Bear 2 - CAYENNE on: November 08, 2008 05:33:55 AM
oh my goodness he's the cutest little guy!!

i love the name!

i have a question, is he intended for children? or is he more of a decorative bear? i ask because i want to get into more involved toy-making and i wonder about the use of the eyes for the youngins. are there eyes that still look like cayenne's that are safe for babies? is that what you used?

he really is adorable! Smiley

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Greatest Garden 2007 on: July 07, 2008 07:49:32 AM
ETA: haha of course after posting i notice this is from 2007. oh well. hopefully future gardeners will read and find this useful! Cheesy

i have no way of entering any sort of garden contest (since i do not have a garden Wink ) but wanted to say to pimpernel - my mom usually sprinkles cayenne pepper or hot sauce along the perimeter of her garden - she has no other fence or anything around it - and she lives in the country and shares her property with racoons, foxes, skunks and a whole bunch of bunnies - so i think that could help ya! i think the cayenne works the best because it's a powder. Smiley

Rabbits, rabbits everywhere -- eating my garden, without the decency of holding still for pictures.......

my mom always has a huge vegetable garden on her front lawn. with everything from tomatoes and cukes, to garlic and different types of onions. i sure do miss having access to the ground (i'm living in an apartment in the city)
