1  Tweed sports jacket for my 15 month old in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by pixeldust on: June 29, 2013 02:09:26 AM

Pattern was Simplicity 2526, but I ditched the instructions and just used the cut pieces and threw it together. It's too big so I'm going to try again in a smaller size next time.

2  First scrapbook - memories for someone far away in Scrapbooking: Completed Projects by pixeldust on: November 27, 2009 11:51:42 PM
Bit of background - my son moved to the US a month ago with his dad, I'm still here in New Zealand. He turns 4 in February. Before he left, a friend took some professional photos for us. I decided to send them over in an album for him so he would be able to look through and remember his Mama.

Anyway, despite being a total noob when it comes to this stuff, I'm reasonably happy with the end result. I tried to make it as interactive as possible, not a small task! I think this will be the last time I make one.

Front page, the tag swings

Page 2, a short poem for him, Page 3 (and 4) the photos come out to reveal a hidden message underneath. Page 5 is basic!

Page 6, 2 photos tied with ribbons flip up, 7 and 8 are basic

Pages 9 and 10 are basic ones. Page 11 has a booklet thing tied with ribbon that opens up:

Final page "So Heaps". Because that is how much he always says he loves me.

3  Cute As A Button Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pixeldust on: January 17, 2009 11:11:49 AM
4 months, 1.5 kilograms of buttons and many, many swear words later, I give you:

"Cute As A Button"

Inspired by a bag which I saw in a museum (which had a panel of about 30 buttons on the side), this thing took on a life of its own! I don't recommend trying to replicate unless you want to lose your sanity  Grin

New ones I made last night. These are a bit different. Cotton outer with a suedecloth lining. They bear little resemblance to the original pattern!

6  Pixeldusts Frankenbags - Tutorial Link Added in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by pixeldust on: September 17, 2008 11:19:33 PM
Inspired loosely by the Dotted Dream bag pattern from Ottobre, these bags got created! I just winged it for the most part Smiley

Tutorial now available here: http://www.craftfetish.co.nz/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3463

First ones: A cotton quilt fabric on the outside with a tough cord on the inside and a reinforcing layer in the middle to keep them upright. The wallets match and snap into the inside of the bag for security Smiley

Second try: Cotton outside fused to fusible interfacing, suedecloth inside.

Third lot: Cotton outside fused to fusible interfacing, silk type inner lining.

7  Simple reversible toddler hoodies in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by pixeldust on: July 21, 2007 08:30:37 PM
Hi - long time reader, first time poster Smiley

Have gone on a reversible hoodie sewing binge lately, am nearing my 20th one - have found that I'm one of those "keep doing it until you perfect it" types, and as they're so fun to make I don't plan on stopping any time soon, unless I run out of people to give them to!

Some of the ones I've made:

That one reversed:

I'm such a novice, I love looking through all of your creations and hope to contribute some more of my own soon Smiley
