1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fabric flowers brooches/ accessories kanzashi, velvet etc on: January 21, 2008 04:22:48 AM
I made these fabric flowers for an evening dress- it's a great way to match your outfit and use leftover bits of fabrics:
These have Kanzashi petals and a piece of velvet ribbon:

This one has an organza yoyo in the middle and fake leather petals - the circular piece is made of silk cocoon.

I also made a very simple bracelet - it has a sewn-on pressure stud closure

And the handbag's flower is made very simply with the fake leather shapes ( it's great it doesn't fray at all):

Hope it gives you some ideas!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Evening dress- satin and organza - with custom bodice pattern! Lots pics on: January 21, 2008 04:09:30 AM
Hello!!!!!!!!!! Haven't been on crafsters of aaaaaaaaaaaages!! Undecided

Here is my latest sewing project : I made myself an evening dress from scratch, as bought patterns always need this or that changing.

I wanted a dress like that:

First I made myself a model of my own bust using a tee shirt and parcel tape and made my bodice pattern from it:

Like that:

And here is the end result!

The organza layers are just wrapped around - that what if one day I want to try a different organza colour I just need to make that!
I had lots of trouble trying to sort the edges of the organza over skirt though but in the end I opted for cinging the edges with my craft soldering iron :

The flowers are not sewn on directly, just pinned into place with safety pins, so I can re-use them on another outfit or move them where ever! Grin

I also made a matching small handbag:

and barcelet:

Altogether I am really pleased because for once the bodice actually fitted me properly!! Grin Grin

3  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Bargain Hunter swap2 - 5 angels needed!!!! (5/5 found) Thanks! on: October 08, 2007 01:19:01 PM
Hello! Smiley (updated )
I urgently need 5 angels for the Bargain Hunters Swap round 2!!

In a  nutshell, all you have to do is spend $10 in crafty bargains, make your money go as far as possible, craft at least 1 medium item using the supplies and send everything craft and supplies to your partner.

You are not working completely in the dark as there is a questionnaire with what your parner likes and dislikes to help you find the right bargain for them! It is a really fun swap and there are some serious bargains to be had!! Have a peek at our gallery https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=195514.0 to give you a flavour of the cool stuff that was sent already!!

I need angels to send as follows:

1x to USA -*found*
2x to Canada - * 2 found*
1x to CH(europe) * Found*
1x to UK- *found*

Please pm me with details of  where you want to send your bargains, what kind of craft you do, what styles/ colours you work in and I will try to match you to the details I have as much as I can and will send you all the info you need to get started.

You can take on more than one person, but bear in mind that it will take you longer to craft. Timescale not determined yet but really asap is the word! I'd love to have angels sending by 1st November. (obviously not set in stone, let me know what you think)

More swap details here:

CraftyDeb is the main organiser but she's away this week, so please PM me.

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Fake rabbits (lots pics) on: September 28, 2007 09:57:48 AM
I've been asked by the Amateur Theatre Company I belong to to make... two fake dead rabbits for the next play. Huh  They have to look as real as possible, apparently they are very important in the play. Smiley

I found some pretty good fake rabbit fur, and some velvet for the head and feet.
I had to make a "real size body" first, then wrap it all in the fur. Just about every thing is handstitched, it took me ages! Here is rabbit one half done:

The heads are carved in polystyrene balls, and I put a piece of table protector plastic in the ears.

I painted the inside of the ears and the white around the eyes. I need to find real horse hair for the whiskers though, I don'tlike my plastic there.
The last pictures were taken with the flash, so the fur looks really shiny.

Rabbit 1 was used in the rehearsal yesterday, but it is too light, so I am in the process of emptying the body and stuffing it with dry rice bags instead!

Wonder what the rabbits get up to in the play (Perfect Pitch by John Godber). I just love how soft the fur is.  Smiley

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Storing/keeping ideas for later? How/where? POST METHODS & PICS HERE! on: April 25, 2007 06:54:18 AM
I was wondering how you crafsters keep your sourcematerials for later?  Smiley
Do you only use digital?
Do you keep written notes?
Do you keep drawings or paintings?
Do you have a treasure box?

I keep paper images in my scraps sourcebooks and do a lot of Doodles...

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone made an outdoor mosaic table top? on: April 20, 2007 03:27:07 PM
We've just moved into a house  and  one of my big summer project is to make a mosaic table for outdoor use. I mean the top only will be in mosaics.

1-What kind of table should I use? Plastic? Wood? Or are there special table tops with a brim to hold the mosaics?

2-How heavy do you think it would become?

3- And also, do I have to use a different kind of mortar?

4- Is this a bad idea altogether? Undecided

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Now you see it...now you still do! (3 pics) on: April 20, 2007 08:13:23 AM
A little story I had forgotten about until last night when it reappeared  by magic (but very creased!).

Once upon a time, on a bright and crafty morning... bla bla bla ...
and then She thought "I will copy the design on the other side of the belt and with my new Vanishing pen "...

2 years later... look who's still here. Angry

-The end-
No amount of sun exposure, or water or soap made a scrap of difference at the time - nor since, shame because I really liked it  Cry
