1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / "boppy" cover on: September 03, 2009 10:11:28 AM
Now this is not technically a shower gift, because it's for my own baby, but fits well here.

I made a cover for a "boppy" style pillow that I picked up at Jo-Ann's. I used the pattern on the pillow's package. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. And cheap! The pillow was only $10 on sale, and then I just got some cheap-o orange fabric to go with my stash Ikea stuff. Add a zipper, and done!

Thanks for looking!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / ripple baby blanket on: June 20, 2009 05:54:06 PM

I finally finished my first "big" crochet project.

I'm due with our first baby in November, so I'm trying to hurry up and finish some projects! It will come quickly, I'm sure...

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / first crochet- newsboy hat on: January 13, 2009 06:23:24 PM
I took a crochet 101 class at Jo-Ann's the other day, and I was determined to finish something today. So I tackled this newsboy hat pattern. It turned out kind of bunchy in the back though... Any ideas how to adjust it?

And I'm not for sure on the ribbon, maybe it needs a button?

Thanks for looking.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Ikea fabric curtains on: October 08, 2008 02:45:35 PM

I bought this fabric at Ikea a few weeks ago and just got around to making curtains for my office/sewing room. I like that the fabric lets in a ton of light. It is a bit busy against that Amy Butler fabric on the lampshade though... That may be my next project!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Amy Butler curtains on: July 05, 2008 01:48:38 PM
Well, my fiance and I spent this morning painting our master bedroom. It was the first room either of us have ever painted! The first thing I did once the paint was dry was hang my new curtains. I made them like a month ago, but couldn't hang them until we painted. I love how they turned out, but I wish I had made them about an inch longer  Sad Oh well!

Pardon the fan, even low VOC paint needs a good breeze!

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / How to hang curtains for my new house? Help! on: May 13, 2008 04:54:01 PM

So my fiance and I just bought our first house... We don't close until July, but I stole this picture from the MLS site. I really love it, but I hate the windows. They are all like the one in this picture. No trim around them at all. So I'm struggling to figure out how to hang curtains. The seller is leaving all the mini-blinds, but there's no way I'll be able to leave the windows bare for long.

So what do you think? Put a tension rod in the window? Hang up a rod and do clips, or rod-pocket, or maybe tab-top? Help!

(And obviously we'll be painting this room... It's a bit too blue!)
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / giant new tote on: February 23, 2008 04:31:19 PM
I needed a big bag for carrying this crazy-big binder for a project at work... So of course I had to sew one!

With a magazine for scale...

Blogged about here.
Thanks for looking.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Spring-y purse on: January 19, 2008 01:33:17 PM
Made from this Ottobre pattern with a few modifications (thanks, Mondenkind for posting the link!). I added an inside pocket and lengthened the handles. I didn't do that flattened-out handle bottom thing either. I wanted the polka dots to show!

And the lining...

I did have some troubles with the top-stitching right around the areas where the magnetic snaps are. I tried my zipper foot, but the stitching just wouldn't stay on the fabric  Smiley. Oh well, next time I'll put the snap down further than the pattern says. The bottom isn't really crooked either... Just looks wonky in the picture.

It's below zero here in Wisconsin today, so I thought I needed a Spring-y kind of bag! Thanks for looking.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Martha Stewart-ish Stockings on: December 02, 2007 10:20:27 AM
I loved this,
so I made these...

Now I just need a mantle or a better background than a horrible white apartment wall!
10  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Amy Butler Sophia Carry-All on: November 25, 2007 05:55:27 PM
Bah! I just finished the Sophia Carry-All... It's a new Amy Butler pattern. And it was a pain! Turned out cute enough, but in the process of making it I broke my sewing machine! So anyways, it's all fixed now, and without further ado, the pictures...

Outside (sorry for rotten lighting)

The outside is chocolate brown (looks kind of black in the pics). Inside is Flea Market Fancy fabric by Denyse Schmidt.
