It makes me think it is part embroidery and part cross stitch due to the fabric used... nifty...

It's really cross stitch fabric, I used it because I really liked the color and I had it laying around. I used split stitch, and back stitch mostly, a little satin stitch and one flower made of lazy daisy stitches lol.
224  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Something for brother-in-law in Iraq on: April 10, 2007 06:22:12 AM
I was thinking of making a little something for my brother-in-law, who is currently in Iraq  Cry. I am at a loss for idea. Can anybody give me any suggestions of what I can possibly stitch up for him to send along? I guess nothing too big cause he will have to carry it around. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I was looking around this board and realized I had never tried any actual emboidery. I have been doing cross stitch for a few years. I was in the craft store and saw these cute transfers and thought I'd like to try it. Can't post pics yet, So here are the links...

This is the full shot. The tub is a bit weird, you can tell this is where I started.

This is a closeup of her head

and this is a closer shot of the top portion

You can't tell by the pictures that the fabric is a hand dyed purple linen. Any feed back would be appreciated!!!
