1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / crochet earrings: bananas, apples & shrooms (+pattern!) on: May 17, 2007 05:36:48 AM
I crocheted some cute earrings featuring tiny bananas and apples for my sister.

I made those apples from scratch

the bananas are derived from a free pattern I googled after seeing a similar banana here on craftster. Here's the pattern: http://chezmichelle.vox.com/library/post/baby-banana-amigurumi-pattern.html

My sister now requested shrooms and pears, I guess I have to keep crocheting  Roll Eyes

That's what I did. I came up with this shroom:

It reminds me of my old nintendo games Smiley The picture is not too great though, the pink cheeks are hardly visible.

I attempted a pattern for the shroom. It's my first pattern ever, so if you spot any mistakes, feel free to contact me and I'll change it : )

Tiny shrooms

You need red and white yarn (embroidery floss is fine), a 1.25 mm crochet hook, and black and pink thread for embroidering the facial features.

Do not join rounds.

Start with red yarn:

Ch 2
R1: 6sc in second ch. from hook
R2: 2 sc in each sc around (12)
R3: (1sc in 1st sc;  2 sc in 2nd sc.) six times (18)
R4-R8: 1 sc in each sc around
R9: (sc 2sc tog.) nine times (9)

stuff the shroom's head and switch to white yarn

R10-11: sc in each sc around (9)
R12: (2sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next sc) four times, 2sc in last sc (14)
R13-14: 1sc in each sc around (14)
R15: (sc 2 sc tog ,1sc in next sc) four times, sc last two sc tog. (9)
R16-end: sc 2 sc tog. continue til end fasten off leaving a long tail.

Now comes the tricky part: you need to get the shroom in shape. Take the tail and stitch from the bottom to the top right through the shroom and back in order to compress the shroom a bit.
Embroider eyes and cheeks using thread.

2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / how to attach plexiglass to a table? on: May 07, 2007 02:58:18 PM
Dear fellow craftsters, I need some advice:

My sister and I are planning to revamp a table. We have been busy collecting crown tabs which we are going to stick onto it. Since we would like the table to have an even surface we want to place plexiglass on top of the crown tabs. Unfortunately I don't have a clue how to fix it. Has anyone of you done a similar project?

Thanx in advance!
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / apple-shaped sleeping bag for ferrets on: May 07, 2007 12:51:26 PM
My ferrets like to curl up in their sleeping bags and I thought it would be cute to sew them some special sleeping bags. I drew an apple (approx. 30x35 cm.), used the drawing as a pattern and sewed this sleeping bag out of red, orange and green fleece fabric.

I'm not allowed to post pictures yet, so I have to link my flickr:

4  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / crocheted ferret on: May 07, 2007 12:32:59 PM
Hi there,

since I discovered craftster a couple of weeks ago, I've become completely addicted... I started out with stenciling and now turned to crocheting. My grandma taught me how to crochet when I was a little girl and luckily I can still remeber the basics. Last week I crocheted one of my ferrets. I did not have a pattern, so I made it from scratch. Since I'm not allowed to post pictures, I'll just post the URL of my Flickr:

My next project's going to be my weasel boy Vicky... I already bought yarn, yahooo Smiley
