11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: A hex skirt from a vintage blanket imag heavy on: February 29, 2008 07:33:16 AM
The skirt especially is absolutely GORGEOUS!  So is it basically a "tube" of  joined hexagons?  It looks great on you!
12  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Little Red Boat in the Big Black Sea (FO #2! Plus 2 bonus quilts!) on: February 22, 2008 06:57:00 AM
These are lovely - I've never done quilting in my life, but these are inspiring me to maybe have a go!  The red boat is lovely, and so is the last one - it looks like a mandala, and I just love mandala-type designs!
13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: cats+crafting=disaster on: January 20, 2008 07:58:52 AM

This is my cat "helping" with a sewing project. He would do this every time I laid out fabric, paper, or anything on the floor.  Sadly he died just before Christmas, so it just won't be the same next time I make something...
14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: the Look At It Disease on: January 20, 2008 07:45:30 AM
I know exactly what you mean!  I'm like a magpie - I hang on to pretty shiny things - sweet wrappers, shiny paper, fabric, beads, yarns, ribbons, buttons... and just can't throw them out... just in case I ever think of something to do with them.  But I rarely actually use them - it's like I'm waiting for the "ultimate project" or something  Roll Eyes

I've had some of it for 20 years!!!  Jeepers - I really need to get my act together!!!  Shocked
15  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: CUPCAKE!!! i need help bad! on: January 03, 2008 10:28:31 AM
Oops!  Sorry, I was probably one of those 17 people - I've made cupcake but didn't have the book to hand - I really did mean to come back!

JanxX is right - you just need to work out where the central 18 stitches (for the back of neck hole) are and use stitch markers of some kind (bits of thread, bobby pins, paper clips or whatever) to mark the first and last of them.  You then work the shoulder part of the back on either side with the remaining stitches (exact number will depend on the size you're making).  Good luck!
16  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Re: Bird pin on: January 03, 2008 09:54:18 AM
It is possible - I have made the bird successfully!  It's the little bird on this hot water bottle cover...  My first attempt was very wonky though, and yours looks a lot like mine did! I don't have the book to hand at the moment, but at some point when working the body you need to turn it and go back the other way, and that's what I didn't figure out first time *.  Maybe that's your problem too?  Good luck!

edited to add:  * hmmm... I just went and got the book to check.  I'm a bit hazy on this as it's a while since I made mine, but looking at your picture again, I think yours is actually upside down!  If you look at the picture in the book, the stitches radiate out in a semi-circle from the middle of the back/top of bird.  After you work the head the next row of stitches goes across the edge that's nearest the bottom on your pic (and should be the top, ie the bird's back!), and then you work the tail at the other end.  Hope this helps - I always seem to end up just confusing things even more when I stick my oar in to try and help!!!  Undecided

Wow - that is stunningly gorgeous!
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Red Cardigan on: December 14, 2007 06:28:35 AM
That looks fantastic (peers at screen   Smiley).  I'm with the others on bigger pics!  I love seeing wearable garments on here - clever you!
19  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: all this yarn and nothing to make on: December 09, 2007 06:34:39 AM
I wish I had your problem - I have loads of patterns and no yarn (well, not enough anyway...)! Sigh...
What about making lots of squares to join together and make scarves, cushions, blankets etc?
20  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: What is this "Mod Podge" of which you speak? on: December 09, 2007 06:28:16 AM
I've been wondering what Mod Podge is too, but was scared to ask!  Is it the same as PVA?
