1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: No More Magknits on: April 16, 2008 10:44:04 AM
If you're on Ravelry, a lot of the designers that had their patterns published in MagKnits are offering their patterns as free ravelry downloads.

** Just search "Magknits" in the pattern search

Oh.. I found this thread on Ravelry about Magknits patterns stored as PDF's or in blogs

If you want the look of a stockinette scarf, you could knit the whole thing in 1x 1 rib.. if you leave it unblocked, it looks like stockinette, but doesn't curl.  Also, if you're doing small stripes of just 2 rows, you can carry the yarn up the edge without breaking it.. like the Noro Striped Scarf.

I really like the "Diamond and Smocked Baby Blanket"

You may need to get more yarn anyway, but maybe the color you got less of could make up the border and the other color make up the main body.

I'm no expert, but I probably wouldn't frog it while wet.. wool is very fragile when wet.

Hmm.. I would just gently "wipe" the spot while it's soaking.. just kinda get the crud off with your fingers.. let it soak.  Maybe put some wool wash in?  Then take it out and let it dry flat as your wip.  If you need to frog it, frog it when it's dry.. but after the soak, it probably will be ok.

Do you live somewhere cold?  A knitted winter item?  I only knit my boyfriend hats because that's the only thing he likes knitted.. but he has 4 of them (so far) hehe

Guys can be weird about things looking "girly" so I usually have to ask if they would wear it first but I've been dying to make my bf a pair of manly looking thrummed mittens for use in cleaning snow off his car and stuff.

If not, maybe some kind of cozy.. ipod, cellphone, etc.  You could use intarnasia to make it personal.
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: ISO Thick and Quick Pewter on: February 13, 2008 08:33:06 AM
I dunno if linking to ravelry will work because it's not quite open to the public, but see if this works..

It's under "Wool-Ease Thick & Quick".. can't do a specific search for the word "pewter", but gray is selected.

Do you have ravelry?   Someone on there has a stash of 3 skeins of pewter.

Was it a free pattern?  Did you find it somewhere on Craftster or elsewhere?

Remember anything about it? There are a ton of free patterns like that. (fortunately? unfortunately?)  Wink
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Hat Attack, anyone? on: February 06, 2008 08:26:58 AM
I totally want to participate but my Denise 17" circ sucks for hats (just ask my wonky Koolhaas) and I've ordered some fixed 16" circs from knitpicks, but my order's still being "processed".

Next time, I'm in.  Grin
