1  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / Re: Tablet weaving , an epic story on: November 08, 2014 01:35:31 AM
I've just started tablet weaving so watching those progress pictures was great. Smiley Thanks for the inspiration!

You did an awesome job, this necklace is so beautiful! How did you attach all the little seed beads?

Thanks!!  Grin To attach them I used layers of diamond glaze/crystal lacquer. That stuff is amazing. It comes in an easy to squeeze tube of matte, glossy or crackle finish. Ranger makes a really great one - it's sooo multi-use!

I'm really loving the colors on this. Too bad the glitter wouldn't show!

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Josephine, for the Create and Pass Journals on: May 12, 2010 01:13:19 PM
I was recently part of an international circle journal and wanted to do something really mixed media and lovely. The journals will soon be published as a Blurb book and I wanted my page to feel as much like "me" as possible. I'm really proud and excited to be a part of the whole experience and can't wait until I can nab up my own copy of the book of our collective creations.

Here is my contribution!

I used a combination of acrylics, glaze, water color pencils and paint, collage elements, staz on ink, stencils and gold and silver ink on a background of double thick Bazzill.

I wish I'd gotten a better picture of the details before I packaged her up to mail off, but oh well.  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the input Bethie. I have some more of those rub on cogs and clock bits...I may use one of those to fill it. I'm pretty happy with it otherwise. Smiley

Here's my next installment. These pages were inspired by a Jeff Buckley song called Lover, You Should Have Come Over. The pages really have nothing to do with the song as a whole, but one particular line in it really stuck out to me and pretty much perfectly sums up my life right now.

It's a pretty simple page...just some acrylic, Distress Ink, adhesive mesh, vellum pics and a sharpie paint marker and clip art. I really hate using my own handwriting but I guess some day I'll look back and love it. Also, I wish the vellum pic on the right hadn't wrinkled as much as it did, I think it makes her face look weird.  Roll Eyes I'm going to retake the pic when I have more time. It's a lot more blurry than it looked right after I took it. Unfortunately I need to head to work.

I made this necklace for a swap. It's the first piece I've made like this. Normally the jewelry I make is very simple but I really wanted this to be different. I love this clay face mold and wanted to make a brooch initially. I had run out of pin backs though and had to  turn it into a necklace instead. I'm glad I did!

So I'm working on a lyrics/quotes journal, which I've wanted to do for ages. Here is a page in progress. I can't seem to figure out what else it needs. I've since added color to the strips with words and outlined some of them but it still feels too empty on the top right page. Any ideas?

Oh, and the quote is from Jason Mraz's Details in the Fabric.  Smiley That song is truly amazing.
