1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Bento Swap (Sign Ups 11/20-12/7; Send outs January 7) on: December 08, 2007 05:39:27 AM
this is looking like it'll be a difficult swap for me. my partner doesn't have a bento box and I don't have the means to buy one.  Cry Ah, so tricky! What can I make without having a bento box to work with?

Okay, it's been five days since the list stalled on octopusincclothing, so I'm really feeling the need to step in a bit.

Either she'll have to add more to her list (maybe add some more European friendly things? It seems to be all Asian wants right now) or she'll have to take a partner from the US who has access to the types of things already on her list.

But in case, I'd like to see this swap start moving again. There's less than a week left for claims, folks.

I received from bettykate last week, but since my cat took off with my memory card, I had to get a new one and didn't have pics to share until now.

First off, there's a batik t-shirt, a bottle of origami lucky stars, and a needle felted pin.

And the crowning glory, all this handdyed roving! I'm ready to seriously get spinning now!  Cheesy

Thanks so much bettykate! You have made me one very happy swap partner!  Grin
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Altoid Tin Swap Round 9! on: November 19, 2007 01:56:09 PM
At long last, pictures of the amazing tin cheyelizabeth sent me.  Cheesy

She went with my cherry blossoms theme, and this is what I found when I opened my package

the outside of the tin, the woven ribbon is so cool!

the inside, with a mirror on top and elastic lace in the bottom to keep things in place

all the innards, a needle felted cherry blossom pin, stitchmarkers, stickers , and the leftover ribbon

and I must say, my favorite part, the knit pouch with embroidery on it, and my two cherry blossom pens (which I have to keep close watch over, to prevent my cat from eating it all  Wink)

Thanks so much cheyelizabeth! I love it!

I'm glad you like everything! I got every color kool-aid the store had, hopefully it's enough.

Oh, I finally have pics of the packages travelbug and lilylola sent me. My cat ran off with my memory card, so I couldn't get anything before.

*beware, pic heavy*

First, lilylola's package from England:
loose teas, cadbury chocolates, christmas pudding, lemon biscuits, and a tea strainer

various old maps

postcards, a crochet book, and a paperdoll

And travelbug's package:
everything together

a two layer bento box and accessories

bento bag, chopsticks and snacks

postcards, stationery, and origami paper

Thanks so much travelbug and lilylola! I love everything!  Grin

Okay, I think I have everything on track now. Thanks for being patient, I have had the week from hell.  Roll Eyes

There are some people who sent in the questionnaires last week, but I'm just now approving them all. So I'm thinking I will close the swap to new applicants now, but I'll let those who are already approved continue to claim until the 30th. Does that make sense? If it does, is that setup okay with everyone?

Just got back from the post office! It's not extravagant or anything, but I really hope my partner likes it!  Cheesy
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cloth and button bracelet on: November 03, 2007 05:16:01 AM
Ah! I love them both! Very well done. I like the rustic charm in the first one, but I also like the glam in the second.  Cheesy

Haha, yarnisfun was claimed by both german participants, and here I am claiming both of the germans in turn!  Cheesy

I claim kianee for embroidery and stenciling supplies, and some candy (since halloween stuff is hugely discounted right now!  Wink)
This is my 2nd claim.

I don't really have any specific countries in mind, I'd be happy to receive from anywhere!     Grin

My Wishlist:
*Postcards- Especially featuring architecture. I find American stuff so bleh. I would love anything with European castles and churches, or Asian shrines, temples or gardens. Or even anything depicting the local lifestyle, like fishing or farming or anything.
*Old maps- I like to see how different civilizations evolved.
*Dolls in your country's traditional clothing.
*Vintage buttons or beads
*Yarn (I'm only really familiar with acrylic, but I'm eager to try something else like bamboo, silk, or alpaca...)
*Fabric with prints usually attributed to your culture
*Coffee or tea native to your area.
(~lilylola is sending me dolls, maps, and buttons, but I'd still be happy to receive the same kind of items from other countries!)

Asian specifics:
origami or washi paper thanks travelbug!
bento boxes and accessories thanks travelbug!
batik fabric
I've seen somewhere online that a Japanese company makes double ended crochet hooks, those would be way awesome too.   Cheesy
