1  Baby Hat and Blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by lafemmedramatique on: November 06, 2011 04:08:28 PM
So... is it a rule that when you turn 24/25 suddenly you're surrounded with tiny people? Or is that just me?

Anyway, I love making things for people, and I've found that I really enjoy making baby blankets and hats... they're quick, easy projects, and they're just too cute Smiley

2  Re: MYB Round 15 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lafemmedramatique on: November 01, 2011 02:54:21 PM
Hey, hey, hey! Picture time!

Now... I should warn you all.... I was way too excited when I got my package, so I unwound my yarn ball without taking a picture of it all wound up. I just couldn't contain myself!

The wonderful MizzKodak sent me all of these lovelies:

In this first picture, we have:
A lovely note Smiley
3 skiens of Caron Simply Soft in Melon (I started a project with this yarn and then couldn't find it when I ran out... MizzKodak came to my rescue with yarn from her stash!)
1 skein of Patons Classic Wool- This is what my MYB was wound with Smiley
2 crochet face scrubbies
A bird note pad that comes inside a little book
Assorted Buttons
A green glittery bird clip

I also recieved:
A hair comb
Crochet Doily
Gold Trim
Two hand carved stamps
Stamp Pad
Bird Stickers
A lace necklace
Lovely Pearl Earrings

And finally:
A hand stamped tea towel

This picture also shows the Patons yarn again, along with the pattern she picked for me.

Everything she gave me was really lovely, and she should be getting her package later this week!

Thanks again, MizzKodak!!!

4  What fabric is best for lining a dress or skirt made from Liberty Tana Lawn? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by lafemmedramatique on: January 27, 2010 07:10:31 AM
I recently went on an ebay spree and bought 5 different liberty prints. The crowning glory was the 6 meters (just over 6 yards) of "Christabelle" (picture of the print included) which I scored for about $40. It's painfully beautiful, and there's more than enough to make a summer dress, but it's so thin that there will be no way to keep it from being see-through.

I would like to make a dress with a fitted bodice and a floaty skirt. At the very least I will need to line the bodice, but I would like to line the skirt as well.

What fabric would you suggest that won't weight down the lightweight cotton lawn fabric and effect the drape?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

5  My Christmas Wreath in Winter Holidays by lafemmedramatique on: November 22, 2009 12:21:19 PM
I've been wanting to put up a wreath since the day after Halloween, and I had already bought some supplies to make one when I ran across a very cute yarn wreath online. I already had everything I needed, so I got to work!

This cost about $3 to make. The foam wreath, foam balls, and jingle bells all came from Dollar Tree. The yarn I already had. It's all Lion Brand. There's Lion Brand Homespun in Apple Green and Chili (I think), Jiffy in True Red and either Chili or Paprika (it was scrap yarn, so I don't remember, exactly), and Wool Ease Thick and Quick in Cilantro (the dark stripes).

So, here it is! Let me know what you think!

6  Flower Necklace and Bracelet set for my bestie! in Crochet: Completed Projects by lafemmedramatique on: May 23, 2009 10:42:53 AM
My best friend's birthday is next week, and I might not get to see her on her birthday, so I gave this to her early.

The necklace was an old shell earring that I just did single stitches around, and then the flowers are Millie flowers from the Roman Sock blog.

Hope you like them! I know that she did!

7  new stuff I've made: Bracelet and tons of earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lafemmedramatique on: February 07, 2009 11:35:41 AM
So, I've been doing my best lately to stay motivated when it comes to making things. It can be hard when you're doing school full time on top of a part time job. But here are some things I've made lately that I'm really happy with.

First is the bracelet. I love how delicate it looks on! (oh, and the leaf happened to be on there while I was using my photo wire to get pictures. I think it looks nice in the photo)

Next are the earrings. I used brass (gold tone), antique brass, and verdigris patina bird charms. I have some with a red patina, too, but I haven't used them yet.

I hope you all like them! I really enjoyed making them!

8  Pumpkin Carving.... in Halloween Decor and Parties by lafemmedramatique on: November 02, 2008 05:29:46 PM
So, for Halloween the boy and I opted to stay in and carve the pumpkins we got several weeks ago (living in a college town, Halloween tends not to be a bit less fun... too many half naked drunk people)...

Mine is a tree pattern that I made from a stencil I found @ stencilry.org (it was supposed to have a swing, but I accidentally messed it up and had to cut it out) and the birds were a last minute free form.

My boyfriend's is AC/DC, and that's Angus Young underneath. He was REALLY excited about his pumpkin.

9  I'm a Gin and Tonic girl, myself. in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lafemmedramatique on: September 26, 2008 10:27:20 AM
I was so excited to find these wonderful little liquor tags! The set of 3 came from Germany, and they say Gin, Rhum (rum), and Whiskey. They're enamel on a lightweight metal, which makes them really comfortable to wear.

Also, they're so teensy! They measure about an inch and one half.

Let me know what you think! I really love feedback!

10  ...and then while I'm away I'll write home every day... in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lafemmedramatique on: September 26, 2008 10:23:22 AM
Love letters are a lost art. There is just something inherently nostalgic about them.

I absolutely adore these letter lockets. This is the second one I'm made, and there is just something wonderful about the idea of giving someone a little love letter that they can carry around with them everywhere (without it getting crinkled up, of course!)

Let me know what you think. I love to get feedback about what I'm doing!
