1  Spiral squares, with pattern! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Gumption on: February 09, 2017 03:34:33 PM

I think of crochet in terms of the big picture, so I write patterns that way.
But, I hope this helps someone who wants to make a spiral.

This makes the smaller of the 2 spirals.

Rd 1: With the first color, make a Magic Circle, ch2, sc, dc, then use a stitch marker.  Add in the next color with a ch2, sc, dc, stitch marker.  (Repeat for next 2 colors).
Rd 2: Continuing on top of the adjacent colors, going in a circle as if you were crocheting in the round:  2dc in each of the next 2 stitches, use stitch marker. (Repeat for next 3 colors). (16 stitches)
Rd 3: 1dc, 2dc, 1dc, 2dc (Repeat for next 3 colors).
Rd 4: 1dc, 1dc, 2dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc (Repeat for next 3 colors).
Rd 5: Ch2, (dc, hdc) in next stitch, sc, sc, fasten off (Repeat for next 3 colors).
Border: I just put a sc in each stitch around, except on the corners I did (2sc,ch2,2sc).

I will be happy to answer any questions.  I don't have any "in-progress" shots, though.
(To make the larger one, I just went one more round, doing 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 2dc, etc. Then adding all 4 colors to the border.)
Thanks for looking!
Enjoy!

2  Misfits in Crochet: Completed Projects by Gumption on: December 19, 2016 12:52:04 PM
My brother-in-law is hard to shop for, but the Misfits always are a win for him!

I made this based on a perler-bead pattern from http://kandipatterns.com/pattern/print/17546

3  PokeBalls! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Gumption on: July 21, 2016 09:33:02 PM
I never got into Pokemon.  Too busy catching other things, I guess.
But now I have daughters and an iPhone.
And a crochet habit.

4  Nac Mac Feegle! Fion in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Gumption on: May 06, 2016 08:51:02 PM
The daughter of the Kelda!

My 8-year-old adores the Feegles.  She was one for Halloween.  So I made her one (as we crafty moms do).

I used the Han Solo/Leia pattern from the Star Wars crochet book as a template.  Then added her hair.  The mouth never turned out right so I just omitted it.

Also, sorry about the sideways pics.  I'm still trying to resolve this issue...

5  Sharpie on Lasagna Noodle! in Completed Projects by Gumption on: January 02, 2013 02:30:24 PM
Yup, it's just what the title might suggest.

My kids were "helping" me in the kitchen, and I was trying to get them out of my hair.  I gave them very old lasagna noodles to color on.  Regular markers worked much better than my attempt with Sharpies.  However, none of the girls' noodles lived to be photographed.  The other fun thing to do with the noodles included stomping them on the linoleum.

Happy New Year!

6  **Mee-Mee-Mee**(Bunsen and Beaker) in Completed Projects by Gumption on: May 30, 2012 01:34:25 PM
I made these for the Jim Henson Swap, but wanted to share.  I thought they were so cool!  They are wooden spoons with acrylic paint. No coating, so not really suitable for kitchen use.  I'm thinking of what other Muppets would be good on spoons or spatulas. Any ideas?

*******

Ha-ha! Enjoy!

7  Re: Jim Henson Swap Round 2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Gumption on: May 21, 2012 07:14:35 PM
Received from PhemBot!  She is AWESOME!

The whole shebang:

Her most intense craft:  Animal in Fimo:

Back-side:

Sweetums Charm: (BTW, it's so hard to find anything with Sweetums!  THANK YOU!)

Animal with his new favorite friend, the Bantha!

the funniest part is we sent the same stickers!
And, she sent little board books for my littlest one, and an Animal Pez for the oldest!
I couldn't've asked for a better swap partner!  Thanks, PhemBot!

9  Re: Bacon Bouquet in Valentine's Day by Gumption on: February 15, 2012 11:39:27 AM
Was inspired by this and made one for my boyfriend yesterday! Added some pipe cleaner to the "stems".

Those came out beautifully! Like the green stem additions!

10  Re: Over 30 Geezer Swap Round 4 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by Gumption on: September 13, 2011 06:41:37 PM
THANKS, KITTYKILL!  Here are some pictures of my awesome package!
The most awesome, necessary framed picture for my guest bathroom:

In use:

She also included an extra teatowel:  I love, love, love Flour Sack towels.  And owls.  That rhymes!  And my 7-month-old daughter already used it.  Sorry for the stains already.

Close-ups of the happy and angry owls:

This was an awesome swap!  Thanks for everybody being so friendly and communicative.  Great crafts, too!
