1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Wire / Sea glass jewelry on: January 11, 2005 06:49:42 AM
Marzipan- Awe!  Thanks!

Amber- Thanks! It's not really too hard.. it took a few tries to get the hang of twisting the wire around the wire jig pegs just right.  After awhile your fingers start to hurt too but hey it's worth it!  Hehe!

Hmm it's been awhile since I made them.. but to make the charms i made a loop and wrapped the wire around itself and then i wrapped it around the sea glass.  to make the links i wrapped the wire around a wire jig.. you can buy them or make one yourself.. here's a link to directions on making your own.. http://jewelrymaking.about.com/library/bldojig.htm  hope that helps some!  If you have any specific questions let me know and i'll try to help you more!

ps.. thanks for the comments!!  Smiley

Smiley How cute is that!  Hehe!  Great Job!  I never would have thought to use fabric to make a hair clip!  Very creative!  I used to get plain hair clips like the one you used and paint them with nail polish.. not quite as creative as you!  Hehe!

ps.. casting crowns is an awesome band!  Smiley

i should have just used my photobucket account to post the pics but i'm at home and it takes way to freakin long with dial up!  Once I get back to school next week I'll load the pics on photobucket and post them.  Until then the link will just have to do!  Sorry for the inconvenience! Have a nice day!  Smiley

I got inspiration for these pieces from a pair of sea glass earings my parents bought me when we went to Maine once.

Whenever we went to the shore I searched for sea glass and I found quite a bit of this lovely blue sea glass.  I used it along with wire.. i think it was 20 guage?  I made these for my independent art studio class during my senior year of high school last year so I'm a bit forgetful.. but anways.. i made all of the links using a wire jig and pliars.  I made the display cylinders too.

Let me know what you think!

Here's a link to the pics..

hmm somday when i'm married and have a house i want a studio.. haha.. anyways had to reply to your post because i saw that you were from sweeden.  i'm a 1/4 sweedish.. haha.. my great grandparents came over to america from sweeden.  when i was a wee little girl my mom decided that it would be a really neat thing to start celebrating St. Lucia Day and we have ever since.  she used to make me the white gown.. crown of candles.. the works!  i definately plan on keeping that tradition alive when i have a family of my own.. well as long as i have a girl!  my mom even cooks sweedish meals now and again.. not just sweedish meatballs.. haha.. and of course sweedish cookies at christmas time.  our house is filled with sweedish decorations too..

okay i'm gonna stop rambling on.. haha..

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Sublime Stitching pattern charms -- shrinky dink style on: December 27, 2004 09:12:48 AM
very cute!

i love making shrinky dinks charms.. i even have a shrink dink oven that my dear momma got me for my birthday last february.  i've found that if you don't leave enough shrinky dink material around the hole it can sometimes break.  those ones look like the thinkness i usually end up with around the whole.
