1  Alexander McQueen Hardshell clutch - - - DIY! ^.^ Kinda pic heavy in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Butterfly Grl on: July 26, 2011 06:58:09 AM

Its been a while since I last posted something, alot has happened and life got a bit hectic. But I have been able to make a few things recently and one of them is this clutch. When I first saw a photo of them I knew I needed one.... I just dont have the do$h for an authentic one, soooo...... I made one! :-D

I started with a cheap sunglasses case, a few rings and my father kindly flattened some wire for me. (Dont you just love 'em?!)

Next was to find out how I was going to make the holes, I thought "just use an exact-o knife" but we soon found out that we were not working with plastic! Its alloy or something similar. So I got to play with the Dremel ^.^   (I think I get a little bit too much fun out of power tools :-D  )

Make sure the fixtures fit

Then simply put the rings in place and fold the fixtures to hold.

Push the inner plastic cover back and its all hidden!

And there we have it!

I love it and all the rings still fit properly, I just cant wear it when my fingers decide to swell, its kinda funny to try and get your money out when one of your fingers is stuck! ;-)   I'm also very glad to see that my camera can fit in there too. :-)

Hope you like, C&C welcome.

2  Re: Flat Rate Fill-a-Box: New Years 2010: Send by 1/19/10 in The Swap Gallery by Butterfly Grl on: January 16, 2010 12:01:11 PM

I feel a little silly asking as I can think of things to do with it (like emboss paper or use with clay or polyclay) but what is it actually for just so I know? Either way like I said I have cool uses for it I just wanted to know if it was supposed to be used for something else?

Isnt it used for squeezing out tubes? I use it in the salon, you normally place the bottom of a tube between the two silver parts clamp the black parts closed and turn the handle.
Dunno if thats what you have, its just what it looks like to me.  Grin

3  My very own Squid Kitty. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Butterfly Grl on: December 22, 2009 05:23:06 AM

After watching Coraline and seeing the adorable Squid kitty, I knew I had to make one. I just needed the materials to do so and I didnt have money to buy some fleece, so it lay on the back burner for a while. Until the other day when I saw this lovely blue fleece sweater I had in my closet that I hadn't worn in ages....perfect! I cut it up last night, and because I was too lazy to go upstairs fetch the sewing machine, set it up, sew and then clean up, pack up and carry the heavy thing all the way back upstairs - I decided to hand stitch it instead. (Not quite sure if that means I was too lazy or just wanted a challenge) Anyhow, it took me 2 movies long to sew the whole thing, and here he is:

I know in the movie the button is a different colour, this is all I had, and I prefer black in most things. He is quite small, the body is about 10 cm high (3.9 in) and his legs/tentacles about 12cm (4.7 in). And, yeah, thats him.....(I'm guessing it was a him)   Wink Cheesy

Let me know what you think.

I was asked how I did it...here is a basic idea. I kind of "winged it" when I did it, this is how I remember it.

Hope it helps, post pictures if you do it, I'd really like to see.

4  Beer music!! many many pics - sry - be warned! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Butterfly Grl on: December 15, 2009 03:31:26 PM
I made a new top today!! yay!! I haven't sewn in SO long, it was quite exciting to do it again.
Anyhow, I've had this idea ever since I got the original t-shirt...
I got a black oversized t-shirt from a family member a few years ago, on the front is some music note/image and the back says Stella Atrois Music. I had cut from it before (because I needed black fabric) but I always had the idea to make it into a tube top of sorts - I just needed red fabric. Well today I decided to sew something, I went through all my boxes of fabric stash and found an old red shirt that was perfect...so without further adieu, here is it:
What is says on the back
And then we come to the different options, I added a few string/bands - originally with the idea of having a plait going from the front to the back but then I realised that it would be too wide, so I was left with 3 strands, and nothing to do with them. Then I got creative and started trying things.
This is how the shirt is on its own, I only sewed one strand to it.

Here are a few options when I added the other 2 strands

This is how I'm wearing it now:

Oh and it can, technically, be worn back to front too.

Don't say I didn't warn you about the photos, I have already re-sized them, but if they are still an issue - let me know an I will re-size them even smaller.
C&C Welcome, let me know what you think.

Lets see it from another angle

Oh noes!!! A lion!! (well I hope it looks like one)

Let me know what you think. Does it actually look like a lion?? or something else?? My mom compared it to a wolf or a dog "could be".

C&C welcome

6  Minnie, or is it just a disguise?? - Hair in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Butterfly Grl on: November 29, 2009 04:23:44 PM
To start off, I do consider this a craft, if it is not just let me know and I will remove it.

I am in my second year (technically) of Hairdressing, though we havent learnt much about updo's - all we know is how to do a chignon. I was bored this afternoon and inspiration came, so I got busy and made this (instead of studying for my exams!!  Shocked  ) Let me know what you think, I showed my parents, got a few laughs but otherwise not much reaction. I'd just like oppinions and so forth.

Look its Minnie Mouse!!

or is it?? Lets see it from another angle...

OMG!! An elephant!!
Head on,

Eyes are apparently a little scew - - only say that now - - oops!  Roll Eyes

Ok, I know the ears need a bit more work, but condering this was the first time, I am looking past that and just saying "better luck next time".

C&C more than welcome

8  My new Fuzzies in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Butterfly Grl on: July 24, 2009 07:17:34 AM
Hey, haven't made anything in a while but a recently had a strong desire to get back into it. So I went through my yarn stash and this is what I came up with, I first made a blue bunny ( no pic sadly, wasn't that happy with it.)
Then came the Love Turtles, the pattern came from the crochetville website.

They have no official name, I made them to give to my grandma and I'll leave the naming up to her, but for now they're One and Two,
Here is Two giving his sweetheart a flower,

And last night I made this little fellow, he was made from the Noggins pattern on the suncatcher eyes webpage, I had a few issues coming down the neck with it, but a few alterations here and there it was sorted. I also gave him a fluffy tail, which you sadly can't really see in the photo, if you want to see another one let me know.
Roger the Bunny/Rabbit - get it??

C&C Welcome, and I hope you liked meeting them.

9  Very Easy Nail Decorating in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Butterfly Grl on: May 20, 2009 05:52:35 AM
I will start off with a picture:

There is a really big possibility that this has been done before, its just the first time I've done it. :-D
It's something I found out about/tried a few nights ago while I was bored (its really amazing how much of the stuff I've done is a result of being bored!)
I generally don't do much with my nails but I did have a lot of temporary tattoos lying around - thanks to a box of Bubblicious with free tattoo with each piece of gum! yay!
All you do is take any temporary tattoo, place it on your nail, wet the back so it releases from its paper, let it dry and cover with 2 coats of clear nail polish. Extremely easy!

Have fun, c&c welcome.

10  Re: Window "Art" **BEWARE 7 pics** in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Butterfly Grl on: November 01, 2008 04:21:25 AM
I have a new one....
I moved rooms recently - I now live downstairs in a bigger room with square walls - they go all the way up! yay! Anyway, this is the first time I have painted this window, and I've done it in the spirit of winter/Christmas (I know we just had halloween but I was too late to catch that one)
The image is " All I Want For Christmas by Selina Fenech" http://selinafenech.deviantart.com/art/All-I-want-for-Christmas-23945191

And this is my version:

I hope you like..let me know what you think.
