2  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Bathroom redo! on: September 27, 2009 10:11:39 AM
So, we bought a house about a year ago that was a foreclosure.  We needed to do a lot of work to even make it move in ready, including ripping out a wall in the shower to fix some plumbing problems.  The bathroom was the first room that we had completely finished and I'm happy with how it's turned out so far.  (I say so far because I still want a new toilet and to replace the flooring.)

Here are some pictures:

During, with the ripped out shower wall:

After: New paint, wainscoting, vanity, mirror, light, shower curtain and rod- pretty much everything but the toilet and floor!!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / painting a dresser? on: December 20, 2008 01:34:28 PM
I just got a dresser from my mom that I would like to paint.  It's a wood finish, probably pretty old, maybe from the 50's.  Any tips on what paint to use, what steps I need to take, etc??  Thanks for your help!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / felt star ornaments on: December 20, 2008 07:44:05 AM
My family does an ornament exchange every year and it's always a challenge for me to find a ornament that I want to make.  I looked at the ornament page here and found a bunch that I liked but before I got the chance to start one I found an old ornament that I bought a couple years ago.  I decided to try to make one like it and I really like how they are turning out.

I have a couple different colors, options going on right now that I'll update with.  I also am toying with the idea of adding glitter or dots on the sides...  what do you think?

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / knit felted flowers! on: April 05, 2008 02:58:36 PM
hey everyone,
i'm really not a very big flower person, so when it came to my wedding, i wasn't sure i wanted to blow a big part of my budget on them.  Enter: felted flowers!  now, i don't actually knit, but my sister does and she was totally into the idea so she made them for me!  can i mention that i have an amazing sister??

we decided on tulips, after trying out 4 different patterns.  i'm getting married in may so tulips fit nicely into the spring feel.  we haven't felted them yet, but here's a link to my bio with all the pictures up to now:

7  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / homemade baby legs! on: September 23, 2007 07:30:07 PM
hey all,
i'm not sure how many of you have heard of baby legs (http://www.babylegs.net/) , but they are super cool!  they are like leg warmers for babies and come in really cool patterns.  anyway, i made this pair for my niece using this tutorial: (http://www.flickr.com/photos/babyhopes/237396880/in/set-72157594274454468/)

it was super quick and easy!  i just gave them to her today, so i don't have a picture of them in action yet but here are a couple that i took.

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / creative ideas for announcing your engagement on: September 17, 2007 08:27:27 PM
hi craftsters!
i need help and i knew this would be the place to go!  so, my boyfriend of 6 years and i just bought my engagement ring tonight.  i'm not sure exactly when we will be getting engaged, but it will be soon (within the next couple weeks).  anyway, i was just wondering how you all had announced your engagement to your family/friends?  i would like to do something more creative than just going over to our parents house and showing them the ring and saying "we're engaged!"  my boyfriend is obsessed with movies (we are actually thinking about getting married in an old renovated 40's style movie theater) and i like crafts/sewing if that helps at all.  thanks for your help!!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / rainbow brite! on: September 09, 2007 07:07:27 PM
hi all,
i haven't posted anything lately, but my best friend just got married on saturday so i decided to make a dress for the groom's dinner.  i bought this ikea fabric after seeing a dress that someone made on here and i love it!  but i wanted to wait for the perfect pattern to do something with it and i figured this was it!  i used mccalls 5377.  i didn't put the zipper in because i hate zippers and chose to just use two buttons instead.  it worked out really well!  i love how it turned out!!

the whole thing:

let me know what you think!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / super comfy t-shirt dress on: July 29, 2007 07:13:16 PM
so, using a tutorial from here (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=177288.10) i made this t-shirt dress.  the t-shirt was only a large, so i had to kinda fudge around a little with the top band and add a little strip under the armpits to make it wide enough.  the straps are made partly with the neck band.  i also had to add some darts, in the bust and the back.  overall i'm pretty happy.  it's super comfy!!  i added the ribbon as an after thought because it looked kinda plain.
