11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / upcycled shampoo bottle into earrings on: January 24, 2010 09:35:18 AM
Hi! We always (hopefully) recycle soda bottles and water bottles, but what about shampoo bottles and such? They seem to just get trashed. So. I've decided to turn all my empty bottles into wearable items  Smiley

These are made from an empty shampoo bottle, and recycled teeshirt fabric.

These are made from an empty travel size contact solution bottle and recycled teeshirt fabric.

Questions, comments and criticisms are welcome!  Cool
12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / necklace from empty shampoo bottle! on: January 15, 2010 04:21:37 PM
I hate throwing things away. We recycle soda bottles and beer cans, but what about shampoo bottles and such?

So instead of trashing mine, I turned it into this:

The fabric I used was an old silk/satin shirt.

I also made this necklace from a teeshirt. Super easy - just braided strips.

thanks for looking - comments are welcome!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / From old muumuu to new skirt on: January 15, 2010 04:18:22 PM
I guess my grandparents made my mom this floral silk muu muu waaay back when, and naturally I inherit any clothing deemed as "trash."

So I chopped off the bottom of the dress, made a channel for elastic and that was that!

If anyone would be interested in a tutorial, I could probably make one - this is a super easy recon!

thanks for looking - comments are welcome!
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / new years eve dress on: January 15, 2010 07:41:14 AM
I made this dress from two teeshirts - one plain black 2XL tee, and one sparkley velvety tee that used to belong to my mom.

the photos are edited so you can see the detail, since they're all black.

comments always welcome! thanks for looking Smiley
15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / GA GA ooh la la (lotsssss of pics) on: January 15, 2010 07:34:22 AM
I started with a plain too-big teeshirt, and then resized it and v-neck-ified it. then i made masking tape sheets on overhead transparency paper. then, i cut out letters, peeled them and stuck 'em on to the teeshirt. all i needed then was some silver spray paint from Lowe's, and that was that!

I also made some for my dad, sister and friends:

17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / this is how i organize my sunglasses on: December 07, 2009 05:41:37 PM

They're pictured with thumbtacks hanging them up, but since I live in a dorm, I'd use Command poster strips.
Anyway, what do you think?
Does anyone have a better idea for how to hang them up?

<3 thanks for looking!
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / new skirt :) on: November 20, 2009 01:20:07 PM
I made this skirt today out of this red buffalo plaid Smiley

it's got an elastic waist with a ruffley thing at the top, and two simple pockets. it's just a basic circle skirt.

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / lace headbands! on: November 15, 2009 10:56:34 AM
This one was made with vintage cream and white lace and a vintage zipper on a black satin headband. As modeled by my lovely friend :]

This one was made from a thrifted dress and is attached to a navy blue metallic plastic headband. The double layered bow gives it extra bounce! Smiley Again, modeled by my friend.

Thanks for looking!
20  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / This is a sign on: November 13, 2009 11:51:36 AM
.....I have too many pairs of sunglasses. In fact, in the last two months alone, I've bought four pairs. I brought two with me to college, so now I have six pairs..

I had no where to keep them except in a cluttery pile in a random nook of my shelf, so I came up with this idea:

And clearly, you can hang more than just sunglasses on this.

But when you have six pairs...

There's no room for anything else.
