1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / How to apply paper labels onto glass bottles on: June 07, 2013 06:54:04 AM
...Anybody know? I seem to be glueing them on and they just curl right off! Sticky tape looks tacky when I do it... Help!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Grading patterns on: April 16, 2013 02:45:04 AM
Just wondering if anyone has graded strapless bodices, Ive started grading mine and have hit a wall. I have seemed to forgotten which direction it goes in and also how much it goes up/across at the neckline since there is no shoulder to go off! Does anyone have a book/scan or photo of a grade stack of a strapless garment?? So confused!
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / 0 sales, what am I doing wrong? on: January 14, 2013 09:02:34 PM
Hi all, Ive been on etsy with my store open for 2 weeks now, almost 600 views and lots of favourites, but no sales!

I find that people love my stuff at markets face to face. But not alot of interest in purchasing on-line.

What am I doing wrong? Do you think my stuff is on the wrong platform of selling? Are my pictures horrendous? I know they arent all uniform but Im working on it. Is it ok for the backgrounds to be different? If they match?
Im in about 5 teams and I post regularly, I am in 2 forums with my etsy site in the signature, I dont know what else I can do! Is my stuff too similar to whats out there? Blah : /

But mostly, I think it is the huge international shipping cost being a downer for me being in Australia. Any tips or input would be appreciated! Brutal honesty on why you think I have no sales yet is perfectly fine!!!!!  Wink

Thanks guys

Would be greatly appreciated if anybody has any advice or answers, im sure there are other people who would like to do this too! Thanks!

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / 2 Questions About Etsy on: December 14, 2012 07:02:25 PM
Hi, hoping some one can help me, Im new to Etsy and have 2 questions before I open and un-veil my shop.  Smiley

1. If you are a business, that is, have a business name & brand - which paypal type did you choose? Premier, or Business? If so - how costly is it to maintain the business option and is there much involved?? I have chosen premier just because it looks cheaper and easier for the user!

2. How do you pay your Etsy bill once it comes via E-mail? Do you just get the payment details then make the payment to them through your bank account/credit?

Thanks so much!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 50's style Sailor dress on: November 02, 2012 03:13:14 AM
Hi all,

here is something i have just made, it didnt take long but am so proud of it.... it will go on a runway at a hot rod/rockabilly festival as i am having a stall. Cape on the back with same binding stripes, lapped zip @ back, flared skirt, sleeveless sweetheart neckline! Im thinking of adding a big white bow in the centre at the point of the neckline, and some big white buttons either side of the CF line (center front- down the middle). Im pairing it with white gloves, white belt (which i have yet to make) and a large hair lily in pink/white colour. Yay!

Thanks for looking any questions or comments appreciated and welcome!
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Ever had a faulty item come back? on: November 01, 2012 07:23:29 PM

Here's my story, quite short! I make everything from clothes, accessories, homewares etc. My facebook is in my signature to see the type of thing i sell at craft shows etc...

I had a little girl come back at a craft market and the hair bow she bought - the middle piece had slipped out, she looked really dissapointed! I said "Oh im so sorry honey!! Here take this one" and i gave her a replacement, I realised that after my first bow I had started glueing and sewing, and I must have forgotten to go back and secure that particular one, and how unlucky for her to buy it, eeek!

I felt so bad but she looked happy enough with her replacement and off she went. After she left i felt sooo horrible, I should have given her - her $4 back and another free bow right?? Ugh! But she had already wandered off and i still feel terrible! Its all about customer service aswell right? I know she was like 8, but so what? Im sure she wants to know she is spending her pocket money on something that will last!

Am i right to say now, looking back, I should have given her a refund and a free bow aswell?? Has anybody else been in this situation where their item has come back with a flaw? What did you do? What is the correct procedure?

9  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / My Dia de los Muertos shrine/day of the dead shrine on: November 01, 2012 05:44:02 PM

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 50's style housewife dress blue gingham! on: July 23, 2012 05:06:18 AM
Hi everyone.. here's a dress i made!

Its a flared skirt attached to a close fitting bodice (5 panels) with a sweetheart neckline & collar flap attached. The bodice part is lined, and a white matching waistband - 100% cotton, it didnt use much fabric and the fabric was about $5 a metre, easy to sew with and press. Best worn with a petticoat! :-)

Was one of the quickest dresses Ive made. You can make it easily enough even if you arent a fellow patternmaker, just get your skirt pattern [off a skirt you have], add flare, construct a calico/scrap bodice that fits to you or trace around a top you have then copy it & make tighter, add seam lines and make a collar shape however big/small and cut it out and pin on to see the shaping. Cut in real fabric and voila`!  Smiley
