542  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Cookie Recipe Desparately Needed on: May 06, 2007 02:04:42 PM
I don't like hard chocolate chip cookies either.  My neighbour gave me an EXCELLENT recipe for chocolate chip cookies and its not very difficult to make at all:

-Half a cup of white sugar
-Half a cup of Brown sugar
-1 cup of butter
-1 egg
-2 and a quarter cups of flour
-1 teaspoon of baking soda
-half a teaspoon of salt
-1 cup of chocolate chips

Cream butter, mix in sugars.  Add egg then stir in remainder of dry ingredients.  Drop by spoonfuls onto baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
543  COOKING / Dessert / Cheesecake? No, Its a BEESCAKE!!! on: May 06, 2007 01:52:53 PM
I wanted to make my friend a really cool cake for her birthday, but I wanted something that was kind of posh, but fun at the same time.

"Whats more posh than a cheesecake?"  I think to myself.

"But how to decorate it to make it fun?"  Hmmm...  Then I remembered the most fun cookies ever that I had made for her one time, that she LOVED, Peanut Butter Bees!

A little bit of time well spent with my laptop looking for the perfect cheesecake recipe and Ta-dah!!!  My grand triumph:

The Beescake!!!

Both the recipe for bees and the peanut butter cheesecake can be found at kraftcanada.ca.
544  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Spiderman cake on: May 06, 2007 01:44:16 PM
A few years ago for my sons 4th birthday I made that spiderweb cake.  I frosted it in blue and made the spiderweb in white then stuck a spiderman action figure in the middle of it.

He really liked it, and tahts all that counts to me!   Cheesy
545  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: what do you wish people told you before you became a vegetarian/vegan on: April 28, 2007 03:18:40 PM
I'm omni, but I occasionally eat vegetarian and even vegan.  Lots of my friends are veg and vegan and I realize how many people really are judgemental of what they eat.  Shocked I don't understand it personally, its just food!  All in all they're MUCH healthier than the meat eaters I know.

To battle the nay-sayers we have vegetarian/vegan food only potlucks.  Its awesome! I've tried so many things that I would never have known how to make otherwise, and found out that I can make a mean vegan chilli!  Smiley Yum!

I used to work in a pizza restaurant and found it so hypocritical when I would serve so called "Hardcore vegetarians/vegans" who would eat there despite my warnings that EVERYTHING was cooked in mass amounts of animal lard! (And I mean MASS amounts) I even had people order bacon bits on stuff then argue that they were "just immitation bacon anyway".  wtf?  So It isn't okay to eat animals, but it IS okay to love how they taste?  Huh  When I eat vegetarian products, I don't expect them to taste like animals, especially burgers...
546  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Re: Non-gender typed baby boy stuff on: March 16, 2007 10:26:49 PM
I think about this a lot, around here you can't find out the sex of your child before it is born, so if you want to be prepared you prety much need everything to be gender neutral.
Animals are always cute for a baby, there are lots of different animals themes to go with  You could do safari animlas, jungle animals, forest animals, but my favorites are Sea animals.  Brightly colored fish are always nice for girls or boys and dons't have to have a nautical theme.  I also like pond life for girls or boys, you can do frogs and turtles and dragon flies and fish.
