1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Gretel or the beret obsession continues on: August 28, 2007 01:25:29 PM
oh noes beware the curse of the beret! actually it isnt a bad curse more of a "im going to spend all my money on yarn for berets" curse. I finished Gretel last week but just got around to taking pictures. I can't wait for the weather to get cooler so i can wear this. i love the pattern and it knit up really fast. this was my first time using Malabrigo and i think i am totally addicted. I used just under one ball.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Le Slouch beret obsession on: August 18, 2007 08:06:43 PM
Im kinda obsessed with berets right now. In addition to this one i've made the purl bee beret twice and im knitting Ysolda's Gretel currently. they're just so cute! this one is made out of handpaintedyarn and i wear it constantly (when weather permits of course...hurry up fall!)

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Matilda Jane (kinds img heavy) on: August 17, 2007 12:59:02 PM
I am doing the "omg Ravelry is wicked awesome i have to take pictures of everything i have knit" dance. So I present to you Matilda Jane which I finished last year some time. I love Ysolda's patterns they are just so classic and cute and I knew I had to knit this when I saw it. It came out a little short. I usually wear sweaters longer because I have a long torso and I dont things to fall on my widest area. I dont like the ribbon that is in it right now as it doesnt lay nicely. I have to find a finer ribbon sometime. I havent actually worn this yet because it was buried in my closest. I refell in love with it when i was photographing it so i think it will get a lot of use this fall. PS i made it with RYC Cashsoft DK.

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Red Purl Bee Beret on: August 07, 2007 08:14:50 AM
I made this ages ago after being totally inspired by Stina's yellow purl bee beret here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=171451.0
I love this hat and I have been wearing all summer as I have been vacationing in Sweden where its been quite chilly up until recently. I used KnitPicks Palette from my stash. My only complaint is that it has stretched out quite a bit.

Sorry for the big pictures and the grumpy face!
5  COOKING / Dessert / Yam and Rice cake? on: May 29, 2007 05:59:27 PM
I get these thick yam and rice cakes from my local food coop and they are super yummy. I am a horrible cook and tried to make up my own recipe but it came out awful. Essentially they are rice, yams, coconut, spices and probably some sort of binding agent. Has anyone made these before? I would like you forever if you'd share the recipe!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Rowan Butterfly in HPY on: May 06, 2007 04:18:58 AM
Hi all I posted this question in the butterfly knitalong too but figured I'd spread it around. I know some people knit Butterfly in Lace Weight from Handpaintedyarn.com and I wanted to know what needle size you used. the pattern calls for 8s and I swatched with 7s and it looks way big. ok off to try 6s thanks in advance.
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitty's Trellis sizing on: April 25, 2007 07:20:25 PM
Hi all! Im knitting Trellis for my boss's baby who will be one year in june. I figured I'd knit her the 18 mos size because she will be that age in November which is a much more appropriate time for people to wear sweaters. So I cast on for the 18 mos size and started knitting but it seemed HUGE! now I don't know baby sizes I don't have kids and have never knit babywear. People keep telling me just to knit it as it is and that she will grow into it but i don't want to give her a present she can't wear until she's like four. so my question is has anyone knit this sweater that can tell me about how true to size is. I know that all babies are the different and what have you but how about a ball park. oh and i want it to be a surprise for the mommy so i cant get her opinion either. Thanks for you help!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / swedish knits on: March 25, 2007 10:26:38 PM
so i am going to sweden in june and will be there for about five weeks. i was wondering if any of you know of knitting shops or street fairs/markets where i could purchase yarn. I have a couple of websites that list yarn shops but i figured it would be cool to get some deeper insights into them from the locals (ie prices, selection...) i am staying in Eskilstuna and Malmo primarily but will be traveling within the country. I am also traveling to Copenhagen, various locations in Germany, Zurich and Lake Geneva area /Geneva Swizerland, and Northern Italy. I basically in search or wool festivals/local markets. I'm sure I will find plenty of these while I'm there but I'd love to know about anything I absolutely can't miss ahead of time. thanks so much ahead of time all you loverly knitters!
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / spirited away knitting on: March 25, 2007 10:17:54 PM
ok so this isnt entirely knitting related so the mod can yank it she sees fit but...does anyone have a picture of the no face monster knitting in the movie spirited away? i figured this would be a good place to ask because if any of you are like me you probably obsessively collect anything knitting related...hope it isnt just me  Grin thanks for your help.
