5  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Bat Wings for Halloween on: October 19, 2009 09:23:05 PM
Ok, I made a tutorial because I kinda wanted to document how I did this. And this will hopefully answer people's questions. The tutorial is in pdf format, and you can get it here:

If you download it the quality will be better.

Hopefully that works. I'm posting it on google docs, but you shouldn't need a google username to get it.

Thanks everyone! I have some pictures of the process which I can post later. Mixi, the answer to your question is duct tape... lots of duct tape.
7  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Bat Wings for Halloween on: October 18, 2009 05:27:36 PM
This weekend I made some bat wings to wear for Halloween. They are made of black stockings stretched over a frame made from duct-taped coat hangers. This was super quick to do (took me one evening) and I love the results! Would be great for anyone looking for a last-minute costume.

I might make some ears or something as well, but I'm not sure. I like sort of minimalist costumes recently.

I love Earthbound!

Now you need to do the characters from the sequel.

you should really get a tetanus shot if you haven't had one recently.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / shhh it's a sheep! on: September 16, 2007 10:08:04 AM
I made this sheep for my friend's birthday. She spent last summer as a shepherdess for some nuns, where she promptly fell in love with the sheep there. I made this sheep out of an old holey cashmere sweater I had so her face and legs are nice and soft. The body was also made of the cashmere sweater but I needle felted some wool on to the cashmere to make her furry like a sheep. She also has needle felted eyes. I didn't have a pattern, just made up the shapes as I went. In hindsight I kinda wish her face wasn't as long.

she does not have a name yet, as that task is up to my friend.

Now the problem is that my friend's birthday is not for another three weeks and I'm dying to send it to her!

here she is on my chair:

and then we went for an excursion outside:

I think she's not so sure if she likes it:
