1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Woodburned Cigar box on: December 13, 2015 11:27:00 PM
So, I've been working on Christmas gifts and this is probably the most ambitious project of the year for me.  I took an old wooden cigar box that had black paint on it, and partially sanded the top.  Then I burned this pattern on it, most of which is free-handed.  Finished it off with several coats of polyurethane.  This is a special gift for a very special friend.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Leather Wedding Tunic on: September 14, 2015 06:20:08 PM
A sneak preview.  My wedding tunic.  The light blue is goatskin and the brown is buffalo.  I used glass pony beads.

The top of the tunic is sewn and from the sleeves down it is tied in the traditional style of indian dress.  All of the fringe was cut by hand.

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Gourd art on: September 10, 2015 02:19:42 PM
I made a gourd bowl for a member of our wedding party.  It is dyed with shoe polish, sealed, carved and sealed inside and out.  Then pine needles and a couple of feathers were added.

Hope you like it.
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / piano arm clock on: August 16, 2014 08:25:09 AM
This is my second time making a piano arm clock.  I redesigned it so that the middle is scooped out for the clock hands.  It keeps perfect time.

5  COOKING / Dessert / whoppers on: December 22, 2013 08:44:27 AM
I'm sure this has been done before, but I tried these and was pretty happy with the results.
They aren't exactly round or all the same size, but they taste just like the whoppers that you buy.  Better, actually because you can use whatever chocolate you prefer.

Here's what I did:

Melt one half cup of almond bark in the microwave.
Add one half cup of malt powder and stir well.
Form into little balls and set on waxed paper to harden.
Melt chocolate of your choice (I used Ghirardelli 60% cacao).
Dip hardened malt in melted chocolate and set on waxed paper to dry.

Eat and enjoy.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / scrabble clock on: June 06, 2013 05:17:44 PM
Several years ago someone made a scrabble clock here.  Sorry, I don't remember who it was.  Anyway, I made one similar to that old one.  The difference is that the newer games have different colored tiles, so I made a clock with some of the old letters and some of the newer ones.

Here's my version.

7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / faire sign on: May 09, 2013 06:00:21 PM
I was asked to make a stand up sign for a ren faire.  This is what I came up with.  All wood.

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / walking sticks on: May 09, 2013 05:57:08 PM
I made some walking sticks for a ren faire that I'm going to soon.  All wood.

The four on the left are curly willow and the four on the right are white willow.  The one on the far right is carved.

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Temple blocks on: May 09, 2013 12:32:45 PM
