11  "Will You Be My Bridesmaid/MOH/Etc." - CD Jewel Case Calendar in Weddings and Bridal Showers by LMZ319 on: January 01, 2008 06:13:58 PM
This is how I officially asked the girls to be in our wedding. I have been DYING for a reason to make those CD Jewel Case Calendars and decided THIS was my chance! :-) I already asked all of the girls but wanted to do something nice to formally ask them.

I found some photos/graphics I liked, paired them with a meaningful or fun quote for each month, adjusted a couple pages depending on who will be receiving the calendar, printed, cut, inserted into the jewel case, and tied with a pretty ribbon.

I really liked them and I was surprised that the girls loved them more than I expected!

12  Re: One Possible Centerpiece Idea (Wooden Roses) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by LMZ319 on: January 01, 2008 06:04:06 PM
Thanks!

I have so many roses because I engrave things on them and sell them for fundraisers, holidays, etc. I have a small business that continues to shrink as my life gets busier and busier! (I got engaged and started my MBA in the same month - yikes!)

Example of roses I did for a breast cancer fundraising event.

I get my roses wholesale at www.woodenrosecompany.com. They sell by the case of 800 roses at a good price, which is why I have so many! You can also add fragrance oils to them to make them scented. I love them so much, I've got them all over the house and give them to friends and family as gifts. They're so much fun!

If you happen to order roses, talk to Karen and tell her Laura from Etched In Time Engraving sent you. :-)

13  My DIY Invitations in Weddings and Bridal Showers by LMZ319 on: January 01, 2008 05:26:45 PM
(I posted this in the paper section and realized it's more appropriate in THIS section!)

I've been playing around with a few ideas, but I think we've decided on the following style invitations. FI loves the idea of the monogram on the front, which we will continue to use throughout the wedding.

We chose the gatefold layout, with a metallic black backing, pearlescent white insert, metallic pearlescent pink & orange accents, and metallic silver envelopes. I absolutely LOVE the shimmery paper!

I have a laser cutter so the black backing will be laser cut (you can see how the white insert goes underneath the banner with our names and in the side slits), then I will score and fold by hand. I am having the white insert paper cut by a printer then I will run it through my laser printer and insert them into the black backing. I'll print and cut the monogram squares along with the pink & orange accents and attach them with scrapbooking adhesive. Time consuming, but we love them!

With previous designs I incorporated pink flat back crystals, which I really liked, but I don't know...they might be too much with this design.

14  One Possible Centerpiece Idea (Wooden Roses) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by LMZ319 on: January 01, 2008 05:10:33 PM
I am in love with wooden roses and have a billion of them in my basement (okay...not a billion...but probably 1,000!) and plan to order more since I don't have enough in my wedding colors of (black with) pink & orange accents. So...I was looking up ideas online and playing with different things and I am really liking this:

It's whimsical yet classy and won't be very expensive. My Fiance also likes it so that's a big plus too. :-) The lighting kind of distorts the colors, this one was made with hot pink and lime green roses. I'll be using hot pink and bold orange roses, and I'm thinking maybe a iridescent or silver onion grass...or maybe just leave that green. We'll have black table clothes so the colors will really pop. I just hope it won't be too tiny on the big tables. This piece has 4 dozen roses!
