Hey Tina,

I tried your idea but with lace and off-white yarns.  I used spray adhesive - no pins!  Then I stiched in sort of a "round and round" pattern.  I didn't do a grid.  actually I tried the grid on my first scarf but it was SOoooo boring to sew.  Before I dissolved the fabric I sewed on some mother-of-pearl buttons.  They add just a little bit of extra texture.  Thanks for sharing!

3  How I Spent My Weekend.... in Quilting: Completed Projects by rickrackruby on: December 06, 2005 09:19:41 PM
My third grader, William came home with these quilt blocks on Friday.

Each child has drawn a holiday-theme picture on a white square of fabric.  Aren't they great?

Mrs. Penfield also enclosed some green gingham and a light green bedsheet for the backing.  Oh, and by the way, we're supposed to ship the completed quilt to a soldier in Iraq on Monday.....

To work!

My son Daniel is helping to pin the layers together.  The quilt looks a little ripply here, but it turned out fine!

Of course quilting was out of the question, I tied it with a variegated yarn.

On Sunday night I was a little farther than this...but I needed sleep.

I finished the binding at about 1:00 on Monday afternoon and drove it straight to school.

Here is the proud class.  William is in front with the black hoodie.  Mrs. Penfield is in the red sweater.

Isn't it great?   Grin

4  Red Plaid Messenger Bag with Collage Options..... in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by rickrackruby on: October 14, 2005 04:24:57 PM
Hard to imagine but I made this bag out scraps from reupholstering my couch. Yes, I had a red plaid couch.  Not any more.  Anyway....

There is a square clear vinyl pocket on the front.  You can switch the collages out to suit your mood.  I made this about three or four years ago for my daughter, Kaitlin who was in high school at the time.  She made the collages from magazine photos.  We had a lot of fun with this.  I hope you like it!

First is the rock 'n roll collage for those days when you feel like a star!

Next is the really weird and funny people...

...lined with black fur!

Here are some photos of the "Lean Green Singapore Sling" that I sent to oddballgirl.  I'm so glad she likes it and I can't wait to get my bag.  I think she is having trouble posting photos so I'm posting mine, but I'm still hoping she will submit some "action shots!"

Yes, of course it is made from neckties... Grin

Here is a close-up of the removable flower pin.

I also sent a zipper pouch but I didn't get a photo before I shipped.

This is my first swap.  I love seeing all of the creativity!

And doesn't Lindsay Lohan look really normal and healthy in those photos?  I almost forgot how cute she used to be.  What happened?

Hi Girls,

Guess what?  I finished Cora's skirt!  Here is a photo:

Didn't it turn out well?  I also made a shorter skirt from the pink fabric.

These always look better on a model.

I was feeling a little guilty because it seemed like Carole wanted the pink fabric too. Smiley  Carole, I just wanted you to see that I put it to good use!   Bonnie we missed you - next time join us for lunch!
