i made my boyfriend a card a couple of weeks ago... it said "you make my heart race", with a picture of a (anatomically correct - of course) heart with long legs, victoriously running through a finish line! yayyy Smiley

8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / biscuit jewellery! :) what varnish should i use? on: March 04, 2007 05:24:09 AM
hi everyone

i used to own this really cool hair clip my dad brought me back from South Africa once - it was made out of three little biscuits (cookies!) which had been stuck together in a row, and varnished so they were super-tough, shiny and, most importantly, durable.

this week it's my boyfriend's birthday and I want to make him a keyring of his favourite biscuit, varnished!  he would love it Smiley

does anyone know what I can put on the biscuit to make it really, really strong?  i'm not convinced lots of layers of ordinary clear varnish will do the trick, and it's obviously going to take a good battering if it's attached to some keys.  are there any specialist substances i can pick up from a craft store or something?

thanks in advance Smiley
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Wrist/Hand Warmers on: March 02, 2007 02:28:43 AM
no the pattern is from a book called "speed knitting" by Kris Percival

i really recommend it! it has 24 patterns and they all do knit up very quickly!

Ooh, that sounds perfect; I love knitting so much but I just don't have the time for super-elaborate projects unfortunately!  So, thanks, I'll check it out Smiley

Well done!  These are cute, fuzzy and for a good cause!  Hooray Smiley

Did you use an online pattern?  I've been looking for a simple wrist warmer pattern just like that...!
