11  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 31 ENTRIES / JEANNIE'S GETTING MARRIED IN THE MORNING on: October 02, 2008 12:22:57 AM
I am sooooooo pleased with how this turned out, as soon as this challenge was announced I knew exactly what I was going to do.

An explanation on the name - Jeannie Little is an Australian comedic icon - and she is well known for her ability to turn "strange" items into clothing.  Garbage bags being among her favourites.  I was unable to find pics of her fantastic plastic creations, but they where good.

My items that where used

2 packets of white bin liners
1 packet of coloured bin liners
2 packets of cleaning cloths
a roll of cling wrap (which I didn't end up using)
and for my food item  cake decorating cachous

Total spend $12-02 or $10-59 without the clingwrap

Craft room extras, Zip, elastic, glue gun, and the sewing machine.  Oh and two bobby pins for the veil

My reciept - minus my banking details of course

My Items

Now that I have all the formalities out of the way we can get onto the pics

The front

The back

Close up of the roses on the veil and the cachous diamonte brooch on the corset

The skirt is made from the white bin liners and flows and rustles beautifully, tho the wind catches them so easily.  The corset is made from the dishclothes and the green bin liners with a cachous diamonte brooch in the middle.  The train is connected to the skirt and is made from the green bin liners.  The veil is white bin liners, the roses are made from the melted offcuts from the skirt and worked out perfectly, the veil is embellished with the cachous.  And just for fun a bunch of bin liner blooms, for the bride to carry.

We had so much fun taking these pics, tho not a windy day, the slightest breeze had the skirt and veil all over the place.  At one point I had to assist my model from the suffocating veil that had wrapped itself around her entire face. We had chooks chasing her, she must have sounded like the scrap bag, and same went for the horses.  The local Agriculture show is coming up in a few weeks and I am going to also enter this in the craft section.

Hope you have enjoyed this entry and don't forget to vote

Oh, Good Grief!   Shocked  Where'd the month go?

I know, thank goodness I had the main part of my entry done in the first week of September.  Had to move on that as I had a few big swap parcels to get done this month.  Have just tonight finished putting on the finishing touches and my girlfriend and I are going to do a photo shoot tomorrow.  I am sooooo pleased with the way this turned out.  Can't wait to see everyone else's entrys.

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Patchwork - corseted skirt on: September 15, 2008 07:58:14 PM
I am so pleased with the way this skirt has turned out.  It is a personal swap with bkrenning and I do hope she loves it as much as I do.  The final ruffle was a bit of a trial tho - 680 iinchs/16 metres of fabric to gather and sew - it took me a full 3/4's of an hour to overlock and hem that sucker.  Anyways just had to show it off.  Let me know what you think.

Modelled by my dummy cause it won't fit me which is probably just as well because bkrenning may not have ever seen it

18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 38!!! on: September 14, 2008 10:30:36 PM
I am taking it slow this month, I have just made my first claim.  Don't think I will be breaking my OWS 37 record of six claims.  Have just finished a personal swap with bkrenning so am able to get back into the swing of things.  Still sewing my way through my fabric stash so if you have a skirt, top or dress that you would like don't forget to wist it.  I don't use a pattern so simple designs are best.

20  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #31 - Supermarket Sacrilege - Due Oct 1 - Oct 5 2008 on: September 06, 2008 11:29:24 PM
Been to the supermarket and I only spent just over $9- on my items.  Had it all planned out materials etc and changed my mind on them completly as soon as I saw their range.  But my project was based around my food item, and I had sooooo much trouble finding it - bottom shelf tucked away in a corner taking up about 4 inchs of space - stuck with my original concept and changed the materials I used.  Wasted nearly two dollars on an item that turned out useless at this stage to use.  Once I get an idea in my head I have to run with it before it gets to jaded, so I was up until 1am this morning and have been working on it off and on all day today.  A couple of hiccups along the way but it is looking good, and almost finished.

Good luck to everyone.
