15  Gift bags! : ) in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by Julie P! on: August 07, 2007 12:43:47 AM
So.. I recently quit my job because we are moving (again) and between packing and sleeping I made these! I'm kind of new to decorating gift bags and I think I'm already in a little bit of a rut lol!

I truly feel that the package the gift comes in matters just as much as the gift itself!!! So let me know what you guys think.. advice would be fantastic! Thanks! ; )

This one is for my brothers baby for... well just because he's so adorable!

This one is for my husbands brothers new baby. She doesn't have a name yet or I would have spelled that out instead of 'baby'.

And this one is for my sister in law.. birthday:

17  My take on the "Chucks to flats" Now with an abundance of pictures! ; ) in Shoes: Completed Projects by Julie P! on: March 23, 2007 01:30:51 AM

lol I made mine simple cause they were a gift for my little sister, made some "laces" from other color ribbons and made some cute (removable) charms with the left over fabric I cut off of the shoes. lol simple. not much talent required here. She loved them though. : ) so proud of myself. sorry for the low quality pic. this was actually taken with an old skool disposable camera ; ) lol

Edited on May 2nd!

I made some more for my aunt who is turning 15 in a week! she loved the ones i made for my sister so i made her a pair for her very own!

lol sorry I'm just so proud of myself i like the way these came out better...

Thanks to who ever thought of this. they are great. ; )

And I would totally tell anyone who is thinking of doing this to go for it! it's super easy and you don't need much. but i found out the second time around that it would be easier to glue down the binding with fabric glue and then stitch over it cause it makes it a much neater finish and more professional looking. also, with the ribbon 'laces' i highly recommend you secure the edges with non-fraying glue so they stay laces and not end up a bunch of string. okay I'm done lol sorry! : )

18  Re: Hanging paper lanterns from dorm ceiling? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by Julie P! on: March 09, 2007 02:48:17 AM
When I lived with my parents in an apartment we used to have that same ceiling stuff and I too wanted the hangy paper lanter things. While I did not personaly use the 3M hooks I would not recommend them plainly because they are a type of tape and that crumbly stuff like to come off on anything. What I did use were these:

They are called Round ceiling hooks. Cheap and they work. : ) hope I was of some help! : )

Mine were pink and I hung them too low and my boyfriend (now husband) who is really tall kept hitting his head on them.  Grin
