1  Re: Isabella Knitalong in Knitalongs by bdeitrick on: June 24, 2007 07:42:27 PM
Just thought that I'd post a little update as to where I am.  I finished the back a few months back and now I'm up to the neck split in the front.  I'm hoping to finish it before summer ends.  This knit has definitely taken a lot time!

2  Spring Fresh Shrug in Knitting: Completed Projects by bdeitrick on: May 11, 2007 05:58:05 PM
I just finished the Spring Fresh Shrug, which is a free pattern available from Lion Brand.  This is probably the first full sweater pattern I've finished, and I have to say I really like the finished product.  The pattern... well... I didn't like that so much.  More details can be found on my blog.

And now a picture for your enjoyment:

I finally got the back of my Isabella done (I'm slow, I know!).  Here it is:

I really like the short row shoulders - it makes for so much smoother for a shoulder line.  It's the first time I've done it, but I think I'm going to do all my shoulders like that from now on.  I pinned one side of it down so that the shaping shows a bit.  I'm really excited about it so far.  Hopefully it'll be done before summer ends!

4  Wario Pulse Warmers in Knitting: Completed Projects by bdeitrick on: April 18, 2007 08:57:38 PM
My hubby absolutely adores Wario.  I wanted to make him something with the Wario logo on it, so he helped me design a chart and I made some pulse warmers:

I did it way more complicated than I had to.  Instead of knitting it flat, I made it in the round, which meant fair isle & intarsia in the round.  This being my first color project, it was pretty difficult, but it came out in the end.

That's awesome!  When you get pictures taken, I'd like to see.

By the way (and sorry for the rest of you since it's OT), here's how to post a link:

6  Re: YARN DYEING 101 - KOOL AID in Dyeing: Completed Projects by bdeitrick on: April 15, 2007 11:49:00 AM
Here's my first attempt at dyeing:

I'm calling this Sari, as this is what it reminds me of.  It's made from 1 packet of strawberry, 1 packet of grape, and 2 packets of black cherry.  It's a little more neon than I like, but my husband assures me that he thinks it works.  I think I'll just leave it as is, and make some socks or something later.

Just an update pic.  This is going so slow!  I'm still really excited about it, but I think I'm going to have to put it down for a few days because I'm totally sick of making those tiny little stitches.  Also, the cold weather is discouraging me from knitting cute summer tanks  Undecided

This is right as the armhole bind offs start

I'm glad to hear from you, dair!  I just swatched a couple of days ago and knitted ALL WEEKEND (OK - in between homework assignments, but still!)  I've got about 4 inches now (around 10 cm, I think) after 45 rows!

a pic for appreciation:

I'm really liking it though - especially the picot hem!  It's going to be nice when it finally knits up NEXT summer  Grin

9  Re: "Fetching" from Knitty: Summer 2006 in Knitalongs by bdeitrick on: March 30, 2007 08:08:30 PM
I got tired of the curling but was still too lazy to frog, so I went for some spray bottle blocking.

It worked like magic!  No more curling!

I probably could pull on it a little more to stretch out that picot bind off and show off the scalloping, but I already blocked once, which is one more time than I usually block ( Tongue I'm lazy)  I'm really glad I did it though.

10  Isabella Knitalong in Knitalongs by bdeitrick on: March 27, 2007 03:47:17 PM
I've noticed that no one has started an Isabella Knitalong yet, so I thought that I'd start one.

This batch of Knit Picks Palette in Apricot came in the mail today.  Once I get my Yorick finished (so close!), I'm going to start swatching!

Anyone else in?
