great job, really love the cardigan. I've been looking at this pattern in the book wondering whether to give it a go, but maybe its the bright yellow in the picture i wasn't sure about it... but your cardigan looks great, that i'm putting it down on my to knit list.

15  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. incl.) on: October 01, 2007 01:24:46 AM
I used 24" circs as well, was a bit tight at first, but after a couple of rows it gets easier and didn't stretch.

thanks fishie  Smiley

at least i know theres no difference than doing rib on flat knitting now, must have done something wrong somewhere with the stitches, and also will need to re-count the stitches to see if i have the right amount... after i've un-knit the rows of messy rib i've done, hopefully i can get it right this time  Grin

thanks again.
17  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. incl.) on: September 30, 2007 02:05:10 PM
I know this might be a really silly question to ask, but i'm working on the top down raglan, and was relieved to get to the part where i do the rib for the bottom of the sweater, to find the rib i was doing is coming out wrong, i'm doing 2x2 rib. I'm not used to knitting in the round, in fact this is my first knit sweater... so is there different rules to rib for knitting in a round, because i'm puzzled at what i'm doing wrong. Can anyone else tell me if knitting in a round can make the rib stitch different???  Huh

Thanks  Smiley

The link to the blog site has really helped, glad to know it isn't just me that the neckline on the clover wrap came up with some errors, and the site gives the solution, phew! lets hope this works  Smiley

Thanks again for the help  Grin
19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help with the crochet/provisional cast on method on: September 19, 2007 08:36:22 AM
thanks for the replies and the help  Smiley

I think i'm following and its clear what to do, but when i unravel the temporary cast on, the live stitches don't look the same as the videos i've seen... guess i must be doing some small detail wrong.

This is a great provisional cast on (for anyone who is searching for the same problem) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhBIS0AhhQY

its meant for socks but i'm sure can be used for other items that need live stitches held back for the other side.

Lets hope this works for me  Grin
20  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help with the crochet/provisional cast on method on: September 16, 2007 05:36:49 PM
Hi  Grin

I am planning on making the tubey sweater from knitty http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTtubey.html

One thing i don't seem successful with is making the crochet/provisional cast on, i've searched the net and seen methods that come out with perfect live stitches, but when i copy these methods i just end up with a regular crochet chain rather than live stitches... arghh so frustrating!!

I wonder if anyone can help me or direct me to a site that can give simple instructions or where they learned how to do the provisional cast on... and if anyone else finds it difficult???  Huh

Thanks  Smiley
