1  COLONEL MUSTARD IS A WOMAN!!! (it was sugarmaisy, in the garden, with the 350d) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by sugarmaisy on: April 24, 2008 02:37:18 AM
It's not often I get together with both my brother and my sister, so when we do, we like to do something a bit special and creative. This time, we decided on a photoshoot based on the colours and characters of Cluedo! Here are the results:

Thanks for lookin'! Please C+C, which do you like best??

ps the title of this thread refers to the last photo of my sister, inspired by colonel mustard. My bro is not a woman!

2  Re: September 08 Wedding!!! ---Modified in Weddings and Bridal Showers by sugarmaisy on: March 25, 2008 07:09:22 AM

I went to a wedding on saturday, and to decorate the venue they hung strips of wall paper and strips of chiffon slightly away from the wall. It looked amazing! You can get some gorgeous retro wallpaper patterns in browns and oranges/blues. It could look awesome if you had a few strips hanging behind the head table, alternating with some lovely shiny chiffon, or hanging behind the alter or wherever you say your vows. Just an idea but believe me it looked so classy at this wedding I went to on sat. they had a purple and gold theme, and the wallpaper was cream coloured with a large bold gold flower print. The chiffon was deep purple and it complimented really nicely. This is the only photo i have of it close(ish) up, doesn't really show you the full effect but i'll post anyway:

3  Three Way Chess set in Completed Projects by sugarmaisy on: January 04, 2008 02:38:53 PM
I made this for my brother for Christmas. I had seen 3 way chess whilst on my travels in the Check Republic, but it was too expensive so I decided to make my own version. I found some diagrams of hexagonal boards on the internet, along with instructions of how to play. I drew out a hexagon on a piece of board, then gridded it up and painted it and added my own designs around the side. Lastly, I wrote a celtic blessing around the edges. My bro likes it Smiley

4  I'm feelin' the shrinkie love!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sugarmaisy on: April 20, 2007 09:32:42 AM
So,  the last time I used shrinkles (shrinky dinks/shrinkies) was somtime around 1986, (it was a colour in dinosaur keyring) but I found some blank ones in hobbycraft after seeing lots of you craftster people making pretty things with them. Here's my attempts.  Tell me what you think:

This necklace is about honesty, truth and friendship. The chain is quite long so it hangs by my heart. (cheesey, I know)

These earings depict my recent mood swings.

This one speaks for itself. Love never fails.

Let me know if you like 'em, and if you've got any ideas for what I could use my remaining 40+ shrinkie dinkie dinkles for, please post here...

5  light up coffee table in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by sugarmaisy on: February 23, 2007 02:33:42 AM
I got this old architects light box for 20 a few years ago, but it was very bulky and I didn't have a clue what to do with it.  Moved into a slightly bigger place and was suddenly inspired to turn it into a coffee table.  I printed some favourite photos onto acetate from our wedding/travels, and put them under the glass sheet.  I used a wooden cube that I picked up in a junk shop for the base et voila! a glowing coffe table.  I felt very satistsied when I saw a light up table for sale in habitat for 999!

The only thing that bugs me about it is the flourescent bulbs - not very energy efficient, but apparently that's just when you switch them on (big surge) and after that they are pretty efficient.  Because of this, we don't switch it on all the time (just for special occasions) and when we do we leave it on all evening to avoid flicking it on and off and on again.  Eventually, i'd love to put energy saving bulbs in there but wouldn't have a clue where to start. Any suggestions welcome x

6  wedding birdie (buttons, sequins and feathers) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sugarmaisy on: February 23, 2007 01:08:23 AM
I got hitched recently, and I had a theme of buttons and feathers (with a few sparkly sequins too  Smiley )  Here is the head dress I made (photos don't really do it justice, sorry). Its a prayer bird - with each sequin that I sewed on, I said a prayer for a different friend who would be coming to the wedding.  I used curled ostrich feathers for the tail, with one huge, stripped ostrich feather to give it a bit of shape (I kept poking people in the eye with it).

Here is the necklace I made using ribbon and buttons:

I hand painted 1 button to hang down the back.  It says h heart m (hazel loves mark)

In this photo you can see how it all ties together.  Compliments to my good friends Chris and rachel who did an amazing job on the dress- straps made of buttons, lining dipped in green dye to match green buttons on necklace, hem of train trimmed with pearl buttons all the way round)

Me and ma girls!

7  bottle top board in Completed Projects by sugarmaisy on: February 22, 2007 10:12:25 AM
I do this after school club with a bunch of talented 11-13 (ish) yr olds. We were focusing on recycling last term, and we made this sign from old bottle tops. It'll hang above the recycling bins to attract passers by and encourage more people to recycle.
