11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / How Could Hell Be Any Worse? on: January 24, 2011 09:00:46 AM
It is finally done. My tribute to one of my favorite bands. We both turned 30 in 2010 and I thought this would be a great way to celebrate. It has been a real labor of love.

Started 8/2009
Completed 1/12/11
13.5 inches square
Almost 13,000 stitches!

There is some more blah blah on my blog if you are into that sort of thing  Wink Otherwise here is a shot of this piece and the one that came before. The CD is blank and just there for scale.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
12  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pump It Waaaaay Up! on: October 31, 2010 05:57:38 AM
I just finished this piece last night! I probably could have finished it a couple days ago but I was in the hospital Monday night and didn't know if the doctors would take the "joke" the right way

Here it is a little closer:

All the Blah Blah Blah can be found at my blog. The specs on this piece however are 14 count light blue aida with DMC Bright Red #666. It has really become my go to red, which I am really surprised by how much I use it on the fly. I wanted to do a real simple border in white but the white was just having a hard time being seen in the light on this blue cloth. I couldn't find another color I was excited about so I thought it may be best as is. So it's hanging on the wall in the living room, just in the hoop, welcoming everyone to come in and relax  Wink  Thanks for checking this out.
13  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Punks Not Dead on: June 21, 2010 05:43:39 PM
Well it's taken a little over six months and I don't know how many miles of red but it's done! I didn't have any cds or records to use for scale (I'm all digital, baby) so I am hiding behind it rather then just measure it   Wink

By request here are some slightly better pics of the project itself

All the technical info and more words are on my blog for anyone into that sort of thing.
14  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Bored To Death (of staring at my big project) on: May 20, 2010 08:32:02 AM
I saw this on a shirt, or a bumper sticker, or something and I just needed a break from the black and red wall that my big project is turning into. I whipped it up while Windy and I were watching Alice In Wonderland. Sorry there is not something more to say but it's a small and pretty straight forward project. Oh, I made the font pattern on the generator at www.crosstitch.com.

15  California / California: North / Ok, I'll try...Craft Group in Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, etc on: April 08, 2010 02:02:05 PM
Anyone else in the Sacramento area want to get together for craft time Wink I am in Rancho Cordova and have some room if we wanna try to do something once or twice a month and see what happens.

Really think if we can get all kinds of crafters (and/or craftsters) that would be cool. We can do an early evening potluck, we have plenty of things for kids if we wanna do a weekend day type, but let's do something.

I don't really want to throw to many ideas out there just because I don't want to turn anyone off. So I am in Rancho Cordova, I would love to craft with folks and if anyone is interested lets throw some ideas around.
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / This Years Valentines... on: February 19, 2010 01:22:44 PM
So Valentines was last weekend and that means Windy got something cross stitched instead of shiny or put-it-in-a-vase-and-watch-it-die-y!

I know the first one has been done a lot but I have been meaning to do it and since I can't top last years model (https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=290721.0), that gave me free reign. I guess this is what it feels like to have immunity on Project Runway. I could cross stitch a monkey opening a coconut with a turtle and it won't matter because last year was so great! That said I was really happy with how it turned out and she loved it too. Already framed and displayed too!

The second I did just because I have wanted to do it for a while now and never got around to it. I was going to do it a different way but I really wanted something fast so I did a pretty straight forward thing.

17  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / You Seem Nervous. Is It The Scars? on: January 21, 2010 05:59:09 PM
So I have been on a mad dash to get some new cool projects done as I have been invited to set up a table at the Punk Swap Meet here in Sacramento next month.

Aside from being a lifelong Joker fan I, like most everyone else, loved Heath Ledger in the Dark Night. I created this pattern based on an image I found on google. It's got close to 2500 stitches and took two days short of two weeks. I don't know how much actual time, though.

My iron broke so I smoothed it with the bottom of a hot pan (it's all classy over here) and will properly finish/frame it in the next couple weeks before the swap meet.

Comments and criticisms are always welcome. Thanks for looking!

18  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / It Came From Outer Space on: January 08, 2010 01:05:17 AM
So it's been a while. Beside the holidays I have been trying to focus on one big project but the opportunity to present my work in public has come up so I am trying to do a few new projects in preparation.

This is a pattern I saw on Sprite Stitch and immediately fell in love with. I think it's brilliant. They said they were inspired by beefranck so it makes sense as I think she is brilliant too. So the pic isn't that great and if you want all the droll info, it's at my blog.

C&C is always welcome! Thanks

19  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Six Stitches With Brain Death Part 4 on: September 30, 2009 04:40:06 PM
This is number 4 in my Six Women Series (that means only two left)!!!

This has always been one of my favorite lines. I am sure this play did not invent the line but its the first place I heard it. I used a backstitch font I used to use a lot. Same with the hearts, I have not done hearts in a while and I needed some flash stitch. I was originally thinking about doing the word mother on a ribbon or something that the birds would be holding but I just couldnt find a look that I was happy withbut I did not want to lose the birds.

As always, thanks for looking!

20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Six Stitches With Brain Death Part 3 on: September 26, 2009 07:54:41 AM
We've Arrived!

This is from one of my favorite skits involving the space-time continuum rift that is known as High School Reunion. Basically six BFFs show up to the 20-year reunion with fake friendship in the air. As the song goes on and the champagne flows the secrets start coming out! Love It!

I did pink because of one of the dresses in the skit. After 21 viewings it's the only dress that has to be worn by the particular character (its hideous and hilarious), the other girls can wear any ghastly thing they want!

Wouldn't be right if it wasn't another camera phone pic!
